The role
Challenge: Make a difference in the future of long-term mental healthcare
Within the Continued Treatment & Residence cluster, which falls under long-term care, we believe that every person has a need for a meaningful life, perspective, and opportunities to continue developing. Even when there is a case of severe psychiatric vulnerability.
We are looking for a psychiatrist who looks beyond symptoms and diagnoses alone. A psychiatrist who wants to contribute to good psychiatric care and who is curious about how people, despite long-term vulnerabilities, can give shape to as normal a life as possible. Someone who has an eye for the human needs that may lie behind psychological suffering and who investigates how treatment and support can contribute to quality of existence.
What you'll do
You perform psychiatric diagnostics and, together with the client and the multidisciplinary team, establish a treatment policy. In doing so, you pay attention to the connection between psychiatric symptoms, traumatic experiences, physical health, social context, and quality of life. You continuously investigate how treatment can contribute to more opportunities for development, participation, and a meaningful fulfillment of daily life.
Within long-term care, issues surrounding polypharmacy regularly play a role. Together with clients and colleagues, you will look critically at the added value of medication, possible side effects, and opportunities for simplifying treatment regimens where responsible.
You participate in multidisciplinary consultations and coordinate with the various healthcare professionals within the treatment team. You provide consultation to colleagues and actively contribute to the promotion of expertise within the teams.
You contribute to the further development of Triple-C, Kompas-Zie, and other innovative forms of treatment and guidance within long-term mental healthcare. Additionally, you will be given space to think along about current themes.
Where will you work?
Continued Treatment & Residence offers long-term care to adults and consists of various forms of residence, ranging from clinical treatment and long-term stay to (intensive) protected living.
As a psychiatrist, you are connected to various teams within this cluster, namely:
Long-term Guidance and Residence (LBV1 and LBV2)
Long-term living forms focused on recovery, quality of life, and the development of a meaningful daily routine. The hybrid learning ward also offers space for learning and developing both clients and professionals.
Vincent van Gogh
Vincent van Gogh is the largest mental healthcare organization in North Limburg. We combine specialist knowledge with a person-centered approach and actively invest in innovation, education, and research. As a recognized training institution, we offer plenty of opportunities to further develop yourself and contribute to the mental healthcare of tomorrow.
Requirements
You are a BIG-registered psychiatrist and feel drawn to a vision in which humanity, development, and quality of existence are central. Additionally:
you have successfully completed your medical degree and training as a psychiatrist;
you possess good communication skills and enjoy working within multidisciplinary teams;
you have an eye for the human behind the diagnosis;
you are interested in the possibilities of Triple-C, Kompas-Zie, and other development-oriented approaches within long-term care;
you see a challenge in complex psychological problems, including psychotic vulnerability, trauma, and substance use, and you actively seek opportunities for recovery and development;
you have an interest in trauma treatment or are motivated to further develop in this area, for example by following an EMDR training;
you look with an open and critical eye at existing treatment routines and issues surrounding polypharmacy;
you enjoy thinking along about innovation, care development, and practice-oriented scientific research;
you demonstrate professional leadership and contribute to a positive learning and development culture.
A positive Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is required for this position. Checking references and verifying diplomas are part of the selection procedure.

About VIGO
In their own words
About the company & team
Within long-term care, the Triple-C and KompaZie methodologies are used, which are based on recovery. The client population within long-term care consists of clients from the EPA target group. These are clients with a severe psychiatric disorder, often with a dual diagnosis where (ex-)addiction frequently plays a role.
Within Continued Treatment & Residential, we offer long-term treatment, guidance, and support to people with a severe psychiatric disorder (SPD). Many clients also deal with psychosis vulnerability, traumatic experiences, problems surrounding substance use, or other complex and long-term support needs.
Based on the vision of our cluster, you will work according to Triple-C and the Kompas-Zie working method developed by us. Together with clients, loved ones, and colleagues, you will focus on quality of existence, development, and participation. In doing so, we look beyond a diagnosis and connect with the human needs, possibilities, and ambitions of the client. As a psychiatrist, you provide specialist expertise and contribute to person-centered long-term care in which clients are supported to gain as many everyday life experiences as possible and actively participate in daily life.
As a psychiatrist, you are an important sparring partner within the multidisciplinary team. You bring specialist knowledge in the field of psychiatric diagnostics and treatment, but also contribute to thinking about quality of existence, development, participation, and perspective.
