The role

Do you want to make a difference for young people who need peace, stability, and trust? At the Ghandistraat in Veenendaal, you will guide young people based on the vision of unconditional living and help them build their future step by step.

What you'll do

Specifically, you will be involved in:

  • Guiding young people in their daily living situation;

  • Creating a safe and development-oriented living environment;

  • Fulfilling a mentor or co-mentor role;

  • Maintaining contact with parents, the network, and involved healthcare providers;

  • Drafting, implementing, and evaluating client plans;

  • Working within a multidisciplinary team;

  • Working from the principles of Non-Violent Resistance, trauma-sensitive working, and the JIM approach;

  • Supporting young people towards school, work, daily activities, and independence.

Your role, your challenge

The Ghandistraat in Veenendaal is a small-scale, family-oriented residential facility for young people aged 15 to 21 who are temporarily unable to live at home. The small scale provides peace, overview, and space to truly build a relationship. What makes this location special is the vision of unconditional living. Young people keep their place of residence, even when they get stuck, relapse, or become disorganized. It is precisely at those moments that we continue to invest in the relationship and look not only at behavior, but especially at what lies behind it.

Additionally, we work intensively with Karakter. Through the close cooperation between youth care and mental health care (GGZ), we optimally align guidance, treatment, and living arrangements. Even in complex situations or moments of crisis, we remain jointly responsible for supporting the young person. We work from the principles of Non-Violent Resistance, trauma-sensitive practice, and the JIM approach. As a youth care worker, you are an important relationship figure in this. You offer structure, predictability, and a safe foundation, help young people grow in confidence and independence, and work together with colleagues, parents, the network, and Karakter to build a suitable future perspective.

Requirements

  • Experience with complex target groups and behavior, gained within, for example, youth care, mental health care, disability care, or forensic care.

  • Availability for irregular shifts, including sleep shifts.
