The role
As an Individual Healthcare Provider in the permanent night shift, you provide person-centered care and support to residents. You keep a close eye on the health and well-being of residents and know how important it is to remain alert, even when it is quiet.
What you'll do
providing personal care and support during the night;
ensuring a calm, safe, and trusted environment;
identifying changes in physical and mental health;
acting adequately in acute or unexpected situations;
performing nursing technical procedures for which you are authorized and competent;
administering medication according to the applicable agreements and protocols;
working according to the care plan and reporting carefully in the care file;
ensuring a clear handover to colleagues;
collaborating with colleagues and other disciplines where necessary;
thinking along about improvements in the quality and safety of night care.
You are an important link between evening, night, and day care. What you identify and record at night can be of great value during the day for the further care and treatment of residents.
This will be your workplace:
You will be working at nursing home De Wetering in Rotterdam-Zuid. Residents with somatic and psychogeriatric care needs live here. This requires expert care, sharp observational skills, and attention to what every resident needs.
The night has its own dynamics. While much happens during the day, at night, peace, safety, and continuity are central. At the same time, night care requires alertness and the ability to make decisions independently when the situation calls for it.
At De Wetering:
you contribute to a safe and trusted night for residents;
you receive the responsibility to carry out your duties independently;
you work according to clear agreements and care plans;
you work together with colleagues to ensure a good handover and continuity of care;
you are given space to think along about the quality of care.
This concerns a position in the permanent night shift, whereby the number of hours is negotiable.
This is you:
You are an independent and reliable Individual Healthcare Provider who radiates calmness and dares to take responsibility. You understand that good care does not stop when the day is over and that your role at night is important for the well-being and safety of residents.
You have a sharp clinical eye and recognize changes in behavior or health. You remain calm in unexpected situations, know when you can act yourself, and call in other expertise in a timely manner.
With residents with dementia, you look beyond the behavior you see. You try to understand what someone needs and connect with their personal situation. You also know how to act carefully with complex somatic care needs.
You feel responsible for your own duties and for the quality of care as a whole. You report carefully, follow agreements, and ensure a clear handover to your colleagues.
