The role

As a Healthcare Assistant (IG), you provide personal care and perform nursing technical procedures, such as administering medication, wound care, and injections. You look at what a client can and wants to do themselves and have an eye for the person behind the care needs.

You work on a specialized mental health (GGZ) ward with clients with psychiatric disorders and somatic complaints, such as mood disorders or a history of addiction.

You offer structure, stability, and personal guidance. You signal changes in health and well-being and handle unpredictable situations calmly and professionally.

Together with colleagues and other disciplines, you ensure a safe living environment. You think along about appropriate care and guidance and help residents feel seen and heard.

The department is fully in development. You are therefore given the space to take initiative and, together with colleagues, further improve the care.

No mental health experience yet? With training, clinical lessons, and coaching, we help you to further develop within mental health in the VVT (Elderly Care and Home Care) sector.

This will be your workplace:

De Leeuwenhoek is located in the center of Rotterdam and offers a multicultural living and care environment with residents from diverse backgrounds and care needs. The location is right in the middle of the neighborhood, where residents and neighbors meet during day activities, in the art studio, or for a cup of coffee.

With us:

  • You work with clients with psychiatric and somatic care needs;

  • You offer structure, stability, and personal guidance;

  • You work independently and together with a dedicated, diverse team;

  • You learn to deal with different and sometimes unpredictable situations;

  • You work closely with colleagues and other disciplines;

  • You receive training, clinical lessons, and coaching in the field of mental health;

  • You think along about the development of the department and the care;

  • You get space to further develop yourself;

  • You work at a unique location in the center of Rotterdam, approximately five minutes by public transport from Rotterdam Central.

No two days are the same. You get the space to discover what works together with colleagues and to constantly improve the care.

This is you:

You are reliable, patient, and stand firm in your shoes. Even in challenging situations, you remain calm and offer residents stability and predictability.

You have an affinity with mental health, make contact easily, and have an eye for changes in behavior, health, and well-being. You are flexible, enjoy working together, and dare to take initiative.

You like to think along about the development of the department and are open to new insights. Mental health experience is nice, but not necessary. More important is that you consciously choose this target group and want to further develop yourself.

You are qualified and competent as a Healthcare Assistant (IG) and perform the corresponding nursing technical procedures.

Good care sometimes requires looking just a little differently. Are you a rule-breaker and do you sometimes color outside the lines? Then you fit well at Humanitas.
