The role

From the sports field, classroom, or childcare to disability care? Develop yourself into a Support Worker at Bartiméus

You already have experience in guiding, supporting, or stimulating people. Perhaps you are currently standing before a group of children, coaching youth during sports, or supporting people in a social role. And yet you feel: I want to make a greater difference. More depth. More impact. More working from genuine contact.

Your job as a Support Worker at Bartiméus in Doorn or Zeist

At Bartiméus, you get the chance to make the transition to disability care via a shortened certificate route. A work-study program specially designed for everyone with a related MBO or HBO education, allowing you to quickly grow into the role of Support Worker.

Do you have one of these diplomas?

Then this certificate route is for you:

  • Sport & Exercise (level 4)

  • Pedagogical Worker specializing in Childcare

  • Teaching Assistant

  • PABO (Primary School Teacher Education)

  • Social Community Services (level 4)

With your background, you already possess important skills, such as guiding, observing, providing structure, motivating, and dealing with different behaviors. Therefore, you do not need to follow a full healthcare training program, but instead earn two targeted certificates that qualify you to work as a Support Worker in disability care.

Do you have a diploma from another MBO or HBO-level program within healthcare, welfare, or education? Then we would love to look at the possibilities with you.

What does the certificate route at Bartiméus involve?

You combine learning and working in a meaningful environment. You work 24 hours per week in a fixed residential group within Bartiméus and attend school for 8 hours per week in addition. For the certificate route, we collaborate with the Dulon College in Ede. Depending on your previous education, you will follow a track at MBO level 3 or level 4.

During this track, you will learn everything about supporting our residents who are blind or visually impaired in combination with a mild, moderate, or severe intellectual disability. A unique target group, where you learn to look at possibilities instead of limitations. No two days are the same. You support the residents in their daily lives and help them maintain as much autonomy as possible. In doing so, you truly build a bond with the residents you work with.

As a participant in the certificate route:

  • You work in a fixed residential group within Bartiméus.

  • You support clients with daily activities, ADL tasks, and personal care.

  • You learn to interact with different target groups: from youth and (young) adults to elderly people with a visual and intellectual disability.

  • You work together with support workers, coordinating support workers, and other healthcare professionals.

  • You learn to work according to support plans, care agreements, and methodologies.

  • You develop yourself step by step into a professional support worker in disability care.

We are Bartiméus

We are Bartiméus. With over 1,900 employees and about 850 volunteers, we are there for people in the Netherlands who are visually impaired or blind. Also if they have a multiple disability or have experienced problems with seeing due to, for example, non-congenital brain injury. We are there for their loved ones and for the professionals around them. They can turn to our expertise center, our outpatient providers, our schools and residential facilities, and the various forms of day activities that we offer. We do everything in our power to make it possible for people with a visual impairment to lead the life that suits them and to develop themselves fully. Because it is not about what percentage you see. It is about what percentage you live. Bartiméus: living 100%.

Who are you?

You are someone who enjoys working with people and gets energy from guiding, supporting, and making contact. You are open to learning and want to further develop yourself towards healthcare.

Additionally:

  • You have a diploma in Sport & Exercise (level 4), Pedagogical Worker specializing in Childcare, Teaching Assistant, PABO, or Social Community Services (level 4).

    • Do you have a diploma from another MBO or HBO-level program within healthcare, welfare, or education? Then we would love to look at the possibilities with you.

  • You are at least 18 years old.

  • You think in possibilities and solutions.

  • You have patience, empathy, and an open attitude.

Experience in healthcare is a plus, but certainly not necessary.

What do we offer you?

  • A shortened certificate route towards Support Worker at MBO level 3 or 4.

  • A (learning) employment contract for 24-32 hours per week. With a 32-hour contract, you work 24 hours per week in the residential group and go to school for 8 hours per week (with a 32-hour contract, your school day is fully reimbursed by us - with a 24-hour contract, this is pro rata).

  • Full reimbursement of training costs and books.

  • Intensive guidance from experienced colleagues and work supervisors.

  • A fixed workplace during your track.

  • Salary appropriate to your level and experience based on the CAO Gehandicaptenzorg. During the certificate route, you will be scaled into FWG 30 with a minimum of €2,420 and a maximum of €3,453 gross per month based on a 36-hour work week.

    • After obtaining the certificates, you will grow into FWG 35 (with an MBO-3 education) or FWG 40 (with an MBO-4 education).

  • Irregularity allowance (ORT) if you work, for example, on weekends or on a public holiday.

  • Holiday allowance of 8%, an end-of-year bonus of 8.33% and an attractive flexible benefits system, through which you benefit from tax advantages on the purchase of, among other things, a (lease) bike, sports subscriptions, outings, a museum annual pass, and gift vouchers.

  • Growth opportunities and many training opportunities, including access to our Learning Plaza and the online training from 'GoodHabitz'.
