The role
Giving people with both visual and intellectual disabilities a wonderful home. You simply do it.
As an Assistant Caregiver, you help residents who are blind or visually impaired and have an intellectual disability to feel comfortable and at home. You support them in their daily care and activities and keep an eye on what they need. With your attention, patience, and involvement, you make a difference every day. Moreover, you choose what suits you: working in a fixed, small-scale residential group or the variety of our flex team.
What you'll do
You will work at one of our small-scale residential groups in Doorn, right in the middle of a green and wooded environment. Here, 6 to 8 residents with both a visual and intellectual disability live per residential group. Every resident has their own character, possibilities, support needs, and way of making contact. That requires attention, patience, and an eye for the person behind the care needs.
Thanks to the small scale, you truly get to know the residents and build a trusting bond with them. You will be given all the space to do what your strength lies in: supporting residents with their daily care, stimulating them in their independence where possible, and contributing to a warm and safe home.
Your duties include
Supporting residents with daily care (ADL), such as washing, dressing, and showering.
Guiding residents during daily activities.
Providing personal attention and ensuring a trusted, safe environment.
Performing household tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, and keeping the home tidy.
Together with your colleagues, you ensure a pleasant day for the residents. You work closely together, help each other, and learn from each other. In this way, you make a difference together every day.
We are Bartiméus
We are Bartiméus. With more than 1,900 employees and about 850 volunteers, we are there for people in the Netherlands who are visually impaired or blind. Also if they have a multiple disability or experience problems with seeing due to, for example, non-congenital brain injury. We are there for their loved ones and for the professionals around them. They can turn to our expertise center, our outpatient service providers, our schools and residential facilities, and the various forms of day activities that we offer. We do everything in our power to make it possible for people with a visual impairment to lead the life that suits them and to develop themselves fully. Because it is not about what percentage you see. It is about what percentage you live. Bartiméus. 100% living.
Who are you?
You derive satisfaction from personal contact and enjoy doing something for others. You are patient, involved, and have an eye for what someone needs. You understand that good care begins with attention and that it is important for residents to feel safe and at home.
What you bring:
You have experience in a care organization, for example in disability care or elderly care, or experience as a family caregiver.
You are available for early and/or late shifts. An early shift starts between 7:00 and 7:30 AM, a late shift ends between 10:00 and 10:30 PM. You are also willing to work on weekends. Night and sleep shifts are not part of this position.
You choose what suits you: a fixed place at one of our residential groups or the variety of our flex team, where you work at different homes.
What do we offer you?
A meaningful job in which you make a difference every day for our special target group.
A yearly contract of 4 to 28 hours per week, depending on your availability.
Salary according to FWG 25 of the CAO Gehandicaptenzorg - minimum €2,384 and maximum €3,276 gross per month based on a 36-hour work week.
Good to know: we use the title Assistant Caregiver in this vacancy because it aligns well with the duties and is recognizable to you as a candidate. Within Bartiméus, we use Supporting Staff as the official job title.
You do not work night or sleep shifts.
Holiday allowance of 8%, an end-of-year bonus of 8.33% and an attractive flexible benefits system, through which you benefit from tax advantages on the purchase of, among other things, a (lease) bike, sports subscriptions, outings, a museum annual pass, and gift vouchers.
Plenty of development and growth opportunities in the form of an extensive induction program and various trainings and courses.
