The role
TOPGGz-recognized Center for Neuropsychiatry is looking for a psychiatrist to expand its outpatient clinic
As a psychiatrist at the Top Clinical Center for Neuropsychiatry of Vincent van Gogh for GGZ in Venray, you are responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric care to patients with complex psychopathology in the context of (a suspicion of) a genetic disorder, or complex somatic or neuropsychiatric disorders. You possess strong diagnostic expertise and experience in treating complex issues. Based on multidisciplinary diagnostics, you provide advice for treatment, offer consultation to colleagues in primary or specialist mental health care (GGZ), and/or manage pharmacotherapeutic treatment. Involvement in neurostimulation techniques (ECT, rTMS, etc.) is also explicitly among the possibilities. You enjoy working within a department where innovation, scientific research, and education are highly valued, and you contribute to this through your expertise to further improve the quality of care for people with complex neuropsychiatric disorders and/or developmental disorders.
The Top Clinical Center for Neuropsychiatry is a TOPGGz-recognized expertise center with an independent outpatient function within various academic centers in the Netherlands, particularly in the field of (rare) genetic developmental disorders, maintaining intensive ties with various (inter)national patient associations in this field. In this way, the Center plays an important role in knowledge sharing within national care networks and in knowledge development through scientific research and innovation.
Additional information
There is a wealth of specialist knowledge within the center. "Where a doctor in the country might see only one patient per year with a rare disorder, we see several here per week. That makes our work very strong in terms of content. We pool that knowledge, and at the same time, ensure that professionals in the region can benefit from it. That is not only valuable, it also makes the work incredibly dynamic and exciting. You are constantly communicating with colleagues, with other practitioners, and with external agencies."
What makes working at Vincent van Gogh extra special for Karlijn is the team she works in. "It is a fun and close-knit team, in which everyone is enormously driven. We seek each other out for advice, but also for socializing. We like to think outside the box. I also find that beautiful about my colleagues. The collaboration with clinical psychologists and clinical neuropsychologists is exceptionally good here. That multidisciplinary approach is truly a strength of this organization, and you don't see that everywhere."
For those considering a career at the Center for Neuropsychiatry, Karlijn has a clear message: "You must love a bit of a challenge and working outside the box. This is not a standard mental health organization. It is precisely because of its unique character and the room for innovation that this is a place where you can grow as a professional and truly make a difference."
Requirements
Completed training as a psychiatrist, with registration in the BIG register.
Experience and/or affinity with neuropsychiatry and complex psychiatric cases.
Knowledge of and experience with evidence-based treatment methods for neuropsychiatric disorders.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both within the multidisciplinary team and with external healthcare providers.
Ability to make independent decisions and set priorities in a complex and dynamic clinical environment.
Willingness to participate in training, supervision, and scientific research to promote professional development and, where possible, to provide guidance for this. A completed PhD on a topic relevant to the center is therefore recommended.
To be eligible for this position, a positive Certificate of Conduct (VOG) is required.
Checking references and verifying diplomas are part of the application procedure.
