Sometimes you will work together with a direct colleague and in other cases you will work alone (stand alone). But your workplace will always align perfectly with the phase of your learning process. Moreover, we won't throw you into the deep end immediately. You will first follow an extensive induction period of at least 3 months before you start your training. This is so you can get to know all the ins and outs of working in a residential home or day activity location. You will also be assigned a work supervisor with whom you will regularly have guidance meetings and who will help you to develop yourself even better. The direct team in which you work usually consists of a coordinating guide, residential guides, and support staff. As an Apprentice / Career Changer Disability Care:
You will carry out all activities that belong to the position for which you are being trained.
You will work with various target groups, such as children, adults, and elderly people with a visual and intellectual disability. Some have multiple disabilities or may exhibit difficult-to-read behavior. Assistance with ADL (personal care) is also part of the job. Together with you, we will look at which target group(s) allow you to excel most.
You will learn to act according to procedures, legal regulations, support plans, care plans, daily programs, and internal protocols.
During school periods, you will work 24 hours per week at Bartiméus and attend school for 8 hours per week. During school holidays, you will work 32 hours per week. You do not have to work night and/or sleep shifts.
