Do you want to work in healthcare, but don't have the right education yet? Or are you ready for a new step in your career? At Kwintes, you get the chance to learn the profession of caregiver while you work. You will follow the mbo-level 2 Caregiver (Helpende) training and gain direct experience in supporting people with mental or psychosocial vulnerabilities. As a caregiver apprentice, you will be part of a team that guides clients in their daily lives. For some, this means doing groceries together or preparing a meal; for others, it means support with personal care or keeping the living environment in order. You will learn to observe and listen well to what someone needs, but also to what someone can and wants to do themselves. Working in mental healthcare (GGZ) sometimes requires patience, flexibility, and a large dose of empathy. Not every day goes as planned and every client has their own story. It is precisely that variety that makes the work interesting. You will learn how to build trust, maintain professional boundaries, and support clients without taking everything over for them.
You support clients with daily activities, such as cooking, doing groceries, room maintenance, and personal care;
You learn to recognize changes in the behavior and well-being of clients and discuss your findings with colleagues;
You discover how to encourage clients to continue doing as much as possible themselves;
You learn to deal with different situations and develop your skills in contact with clients;
You receive guidance from experienced colleagues and grow step by step in your role as a caregiver.
You will be working at a protected residential location for residents with long-term psychiatric vulnerability and/or psychosocial problems. The residents are between 58 and 88 years old and have diverse support needs, for example in the areas of autism, schizophrenia, depression, or bipolar disorder. The location is situated in a quiet, green environment and consists of three modern residential floors. Residents have their own studio or apartment with a kitchenette and bathroom. Additionally, there are communal living rooms where residents eat together, drink coffee, and participate in activities. There is also a spacious, well-maintained garden where residents can relax wonderfully. Guidance is present or nearby 24 hours a day, with a sleep watch during the night. You will become part of a friendly, open, and involved team. Colleagues are there for one another, can rely on each other, and also enjoy a joke. Communication is open and direct: you know where you stand with each other. The residents form a relatively quiet group, making this location a nice place to gain experience within mental healthcare. Personal attention and stimulating independence are central. Residents appreciate it when you make time for them, for example by walking together, playing a game, or organizing a fun activity. We are looking for someone who is warm and caring, but also dares to take initiative. Someone who sees possibilities, actively involves residents, and contributes to a pleasant living environment with sincere interest. It is precisely the small moments of attention that can make a big difference here. Watch this video for more information about the location: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSfrSJAxa_g
