The role

Do you want to support young people in their development and walk alongside them on their path to independence?

Then come work as a youth care worker in our Transition House. As a mentor to the young people, you will map out which goals they want to achieve and set up an appropriate trajectory. Apply now! We would love to meet you.

What you'll do

In the Transition House in Arnhem, eight young people live while working on their independence. They can rely on guidance 24 hours a day and go to school or another appropriate daily activity during the day. The guidance is individual and tailored to the needs of the young person. At the start, during a goal-setting meeting, developmental goals are established in the areas of personal development, self-care, social contacts, and independent participation in society. Additionally, you guide young people with psychological support needs, where the behavioral scientist provides the clinical treatment support.

As a youth care worker, you build a bond of trust with the young people and serve as a mentor to a number of them. You guide them in their daily living situation, conduct mentoring sessions, and support their development. In doing so, you work from a systems-theoretical and solution-oriented vision, set goals together, and work closely with the young person's network (JIM), chain partners, and a multidisciplinary team. Additionally, you work actively in a connecting manner and continue to develop yourself through training.

Your role, your challenge

In summary, your duties consist of:

  • Individually guiding young people and collaborating with their network.

  • Working from a solution-oriented and systems-theoretical vision within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Working actively in a connecting manner and coordinating with chain partners for appropriate support.

Requirements

You are someone who stands firm in your shoes and can guide our young people with determination. With your enthusiasm, you know how to motivate them and offer perspective. You are creative in your approach and think out of the box, allowing you to inspire young people to see new possibilities. Humor is a powerful tool for you in contact, and you know how to use it at the right moments. Additionally, you are a true doer; you like to roll up your sleeves and are not afraid to take initiative.

Additionally, you bring the following knowledge and experience:

  • A completed HBO degree in a relevant field (e.g., Social Work/Pedagogy) with SKJ registration. Or a completed level 4 education (e.g., social work).

  • Experience (or affinity) with psychiatric issues and individually oriented guidance is a plus.

  • Knowledge of or experience with addiction care.

  • Willingness to work irregular shifts.

About VIGO

In their own words

About the company & team

The team consists of approximately 5 colleagues and the team guides one 3rd-year HBO intern every year. It is a close-knit and young team, in which people work closely together. During weekday shifts (late and sleep shifts), 2 colleagues always work together. Because the team is self-organizing, a good division of labor is always sought, and gaps in the schedule are solved together as much as possible. This creates many possibilities, though flexibility is a must. The manager is closely involved with the team but also provides plenty of room for individual input. Additionally, there are short lines of communication with the involved behavioral scientist.
