The role
As a Tickets & Service Employee at NS, you make a difference for travelers every day with your personal approach. With your friendly and helpful attitude, you give people a warm welcome at the station. You help them with questions, provide information, and ensure that everyone feels seen and helped. You do this, for example, at the service desk, on the platform, or at the ticket machine.
What you'll do
You are the go-to person for travelers. Your work consists of:
- Helping travelers at the station: You are visible and approachable. You proactively approach people and offer help when they need it.
- Providing travel assistance: You help people with reduced mobility when boarding and exiting the train. For this, you use tools such as a bridge.
- Providing advice and resolving complaints: You listen well, think in solutions, and provide travelers with clear and friendly advice.
- Selling tickets and subscriptions: At the service desk or via the machine, you provide explanations about travel products and help people choose the right ticket or subscription.
Training
If you are hired, you will follow an internal 11-week training program (36 hours per week). You will work in practice at the location under the guidance of a workplace mentor, and you will attend lessons at the NS Learning Center in Amersfoort. You will also follow e-learning modules and have workplace assignments. This allows you to combine professional knowledge with practical experience.

Where you will work

The team at the Utrecht Central location consists of 60 service employees and 2 team managers. Together they form a friendly and close-knit group of colleagues.
Your workday is varied. One moment you are at the information desk, where you answer questions and help people on their way; even less satisfied travelers are addressed in a customer-friendly and solution-oriented manner. In these situations, you do not let yourself be thrown off and you stand firm in your shoes. At another moment, you supervise the platform or help someone while disembarking. You show tourists the way or help find a forgotten backpack. Sometimes you work in the Public Transport Service Shop, where you sell tickets and provide travel information. Meanwhile, there is also time for a friendly chat with travelers and colleagues.
