The role

As a Customer Service Representative Dangerous Goods at SGS in Spijkenisse, you will get the chance to develop within a specialized field: The world of dangerous goods in the logistics sector.

What you'll do

Your role

You are an important link between customers, colleagues, and carriers. You act as a point of contact for customers, manage inventory, arrange transport shipments, and handle the associated documentation. Additionally, you ensure that all activities are carried out according to the applicable procedures and work closely with colleagues both within and outside the department.

What will you do?

• Advising customers on shipments, storage, and documentation regarding dangerous goods
• Receiving, checking, and administratively processing incoming goods
• Preparing and checking transport documents
• Booking and administratively following up on shipments
• Elaborating quotations

Functie-eisen

What you bring

You have an MBO level of work and thinking and preferably have experience or training in transport, logistics, or Customer Service. More importantly: you work accurately, have strong communication skills, and have an interest in a specialized environment where safety and regulation are paramount. You have a good command of the Dutch and English languages, both spoken and written.

Functie-eisen

Experience with Dangerous Goods is a plus, but not a strict requirement. If you do not yet possess the necessary certificates, you can obtain them at SGS. These include:

  • VCA-basis;
  • ADR-Awareness
  • ADR-function specific;
  • IMDG-function specific;
  • IATA CBTA Dangerous Goods.

The Sample Management and Dangerous Goods Services department is responsible for shipping dangerous and non-dangerous substances by road, sea, and air transport.
Our expertise lies in the logistical and administrative handling of shipments containing dangerous goods. We offer, among other things, transport support, prepare shipments for transport, and provide advice to and maintain contact with transport companies, laboratories, and customers. We do this together with 98 colleagues from our locations in Schiphol-Rijk, Eindhoven-Airport, and Spijkenisse.
