Business Control Internship

During your internship, do you want to do more than just process numbers, but truly contribute to better management decisions? Are you curious about how an organization steers on performance, forecasting, and financial insights? Then this internship within Business Control at Berenschot is for you.

As a Business Control intern, you will actively participate within the financial team at Berenschot. You will support the business controllers in analyzing performance, preparing reports, and identifying developments that are important to the organization.

Your responsibilities include, among other things:

• analyzing consultant performance based on revenue, billability, hourly rates, and availability

• checking, updating, and improving periodic reports and dashboards

• performing ad-hoc analyses on deviations compared to budgets, forecasts, and objectives

• identifying trends and developments in commercial and financial performance

• supporting the preparation of forecasts for revenue, billability, staffing, and results

• analyzing the order portfolio, sales pipeline, and expected capacity requirements

• investigating the causes behind deviating performance and translating these into concrete insights

• supporting management reporting and periodic performance reviews

• improving and, where possible, automating existing reports and analyses.

During your internship, you will get plenty of room to think along, perform analyses independently, and gain insight into how financial steering works within a professional advisory organization.

Berenschot is an independent Dutch organizational consultancy firm in Utrecht, where more than 500 driven colleagues work on sustainable solutions for the challenges of our clients. Within the Finance team, you will work closely with the business controllers who support the various advisory groups. You will receive a dedicated internship supervisor and will be actively guided in your development. At the same time, you will be given the space to take initiative and work on assignments independently.

• you are enrolled at an educational institution during your internship

• you are following an HBO degree in the direction of finance & control, financial business management, or a similar financial study

• you are looking for an internship for approximately four days per week

• you have an affinity with financial analyses, reporting, and business operations

• you work accurately and enjoy analyzing data

• you are curious and dare to ask critical questions

• you have experience with or interest in Excel, Power BI, and data analysis

• you communicate clearly and enjoy working together.
