The role
Your progress begins at Berenschot
0.8 - 1 fte hour per week | Utrecht | Hybrid | Healthcare and social development | € 600,- Wed
Do you want to combine your master's thesis research with practical experience at a leading consultancy firm? And do you want to contribute to current developments in healthcare, education, or the social domain? Then read on.
For our Healthcare and Social Development (ZMO) advisory group, we are looking for a curious and driven intern for the period from February through June 2027. You will work three days a week on advisory assignments and spend the other two days on your thesis research.
During your internship, you will work together with experienced consultants three days a week and make a substantive contribution to ongoing assignments. This allows you to get acquainted with the advisory profession and develop your research and advisory skills. Our clients include ministries, executive organizations, municipalities, healthcare providers, and educational institutions. We help them with diverse issues such as the organization and affordability of care, the future of education, and appropriate support for residents. The common thread in our assignments is that they are socially urgent and administratively complex.
In addition to working on advisory assignments, there is room to work on your thesis. You will propose a relevant topic for your thesis research yourself. Naturally, we are happy to think along with you to ensure your research aligns well with our practice, and how we can help you, for example, with recruiting respondents for interviews, or providing existing use cases regarding your topic.
This is what you will do
You support and participate in research and advisory assignments, for example by preparing and conducting interviews and workshops, performing qualitative and quantitative analyses, and co-writing reports and articles.
You participate in team meetings, knowledge sessions, training, and internal meetings.
You support congresses, conferences, and client meetings.
In consultation, you will join one of the three teams within the ZMO department: the healthcare, education, or social domain team.
Depending on the team you join, you will work on themes such as:
Social Domain
You research how organizations can implement the Participation Act and the Social Employment Act (Wsw) in a future-proof manner.
You advise on the strategic course of asylum and integration policy and evaluate how implementation contributes to policy goals.
You research how municipalities can gain more control over youth care costs and guide them in implementing improvements.
You support municipalities in designing and improving access to support within the social domain.
Healthcare
You support healthcare organizations in strengthening their resilience and ensuring continuity of care, so that necessary care can continue during disruptions, such as ICT or staff outages.
You advise healthcare organizations on the use of digital applications and support them in improving data exchange between healthcare providers.
You work with residents, municipalities, and healthcare and welfare organizations on caring neighborhoods, in which people look out for one another and care and support are available nearby.
You support healthcare organizations with business administration tasks, such as improving business operations, controlling costs, and aligning capacity with healthcare demand.
Education
You research how the educational offering in primary, secondary, vocational, and higher education can remain accessible and future-proof and advise on the distribution of schools and training programs.
You advise education regions and school boards on tackling teacher shortages and support them in regional cooperation and reorganizing education.
You research how educational institutions can align their organization and resources with future challenges and guide them through organizational changes, cooperation, and mergers.
You advise on strengthening basic skills and lifelong development and support boards and municipalities in organizing guidance for youth with a need for support.
You support educational institutions, governments, and companies in setting up joint innovation trajectories and evaluate how these contribute to the intended goals.
