Requirements

What we're looking for

  • HBO/WO in business economics, accountancy, finance, or similar. RC or RA is a plus
  • At least [5] years of experience as a controller or in a comparable senior financial role
  • Experience with a fast-growing organization, scale-up, or cooperative is a plus
  • Knowledge of financial services, insurance, or risk models is a strong plus
  • Good command of accounting systems and Excel/BI tools

Nice to have

  • Analytical, accurate, and pragmatic: you know what must be perfect and what is good enough
  • Can explain complex figures simply to non-financials
  • Proactive and independent, with a hands-on mentality in a small organization
  • Integrity and reliability, with a sense for the social aspect of our work
  • Committed to freelancers and to the idea of mutual solidarity

Pay & benefits

What you'll get

  • A responsible position with a lot of personal input in a growing organization
  • 24 to 32 hours per week, flexible scheduling
  • Market-conform salary, or a fixed fee.
  • Holiday allowance, pension, travel allowance, training budget, other secondary benefits
  • An informal, people-oriented culture and short lines of communication with management
  • The chance to help build an alternative to how freelancers share income risks together

The role

As a financial controller, you are responsible for the reliability, timeliness, and insightfulness of our financial information. You monitor the financial health of the cooperative and translate figures into actionable advice for the management. You report to the director and work closely with the team, the accountant, and any external advisors. We see the role as the link between finance, risk management, and the interests of the members.

What you'll do

  • Responsible for the financial administration, monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
  • Preparing the annual accounts and the management report in collaboration with the accountant
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets, forecasts, and multi-year plans
  • Reporting to management regarding results, deviations, and risks
  • Monitoring the solidarity fund and the financial sustainability of the model
  • Setting up and improving internal controls, processes, and systems, with an eye for automation
  • Ensuring compliance, tax matters, and contact with regulators where applicable
  • Supporting financing issues and growth plans

About SharePeople

SharePeople is a community of freelancers who want to take good care of themselves and

each other.

We believe that healthy entrepreneurship begins with having your business in order: financially,

socially, and also regarding well-being. We do this, among other things, with a group disability insurance policy

and a donation system. No doomsday scenarios, no complicated hassle: just clear language and

a positive push in the right direction.

SharePeople is a social enterprise where we are in solidarity with one another and are committed to a sustainable freelance labor market. Even when things get tough.

What sets us apart is that, alongside a safety net in case of disability, we focus primarily on prevention and healthy entrepreneurship. You arrange that safety net yourself via donations, a collective Basic Disability Insurance (AOV), or a combination.

SharePeople: healthy entrepreneurship together.
