What you bring
0.8-1 fte | Utrecht | Hybrid | Safety and crisis management | € 600 | Wed
We are looking for a motivated university student (final year of bachelor or master) with an affinity for crisis and safety issues. In terms of educational background, think of communication, media, political science, public administration, security studies, or criminology. Other relevant studies are, of course, also welcome, provided your motivation aligns with our field of work.
Additionally:
you can work independently and function well within a team
you are communicatively skilled and present yourself professionally, both orally and in writing
you have strong analytical abilities
you are available for an internship period of five or six months for four or five days per week (maximum 38.75 hours)
start dates are March (through July) or September (through February).
Your progress begins at Berenschot
Are you a university student fascinated by safety, crisis management, and complex societal issues? Do you find the theory captivating, but cannot wait to experience the practice? Do you want to participate in a team that advises on major incidents and prepares organizations for the unpredictable? Then an internship at Berenschot-COT is for you!
During this working internship, you will participate as a full colleague in the heart of the safety domain. You will work on assignments for ministries, safety regions, and private organizations. From analyzing cyberattacks to supporting large-scale crisis exercises: you truly make a difference.
This is what you will do
As an intern at Berenschot-COT, you will work under the guidance of an experienced project leader alongside colleagues on various projects within the safety and crisis domain. You will be actively involved in both training and exercises as well as research and advisory assignments.
You will contribute to, among other things:
the development and preparation of training and crisis exercises, including the drafting of exercise scenarios and training materials
supporting the execution of training and exercises, including observation and evaluation
carrying out research and advisory assignments for diverse substantive themes within crisis management
the collection and analysis of information
attending meetings and providing reporting
collaborating on (emergency) investigations
In addition, you will participate in internal meetings, knowledge sessions, and team activities. This way, you will not only get to know the field well, but also the dynamics of working in a professional consultancy firm.
Where you will end up
Berenschot is an independent Dutch organizational consultancy firm in Utrecht, where more than 500 driven colleagues work on sustainable solutions for the issues of our clients. Our organization has a flat structure without partners, which gives you influence over the projects you execute. We always strive for surprising and innovative solutions, which makes us unique. With an open and informal culture, collaboration between different disciplines, and plenty of freedom from day one, you get the chance to discover where your strength lies and what you want to develop in.
These are your direct colleagues
Berenschot-COT specializes in advising, research, training, and exercises in the field of safety and crisis management. We advise organizations before, during, and after crisis situations and help them structurally improve their crisis and safety management.
Berenschot-COT has broad experience within both the public and private sectors, domestically and abroad. Assignments that gained national recognition include the investigation into the shooting drama in Alphen aan den Rijn, the terror attack in Utrecht, the unrest surrounding Ajax-Maccabi Tel Aviv, and the cyberattack at TU Eindhoven. a laptop
flexible working options, including at home

Internship Plus Program

This requires an average of one half-day every two weeks. You can read more about the program via this link. Everything about our internship plus program | Berenschot
