What you build above ground stands or falls with what happens below it. And that is exactly where it gets interesting. At VSF, we work on complex foundations and soil improvements for the largest infrastructure projects in the Netherlands. As a Materials Quality Specialist, you test and inspect the materials that make this possible. One day you are on a project with your boots on, the next day you are with a test setup in our materials laboratory in Dordrecht.
Foundation technology is a profession unto itself. No soil is the same and no project requires exactly the same solution. That is why at VSF we work with all kinds of specialized techniques, such as jet grouting, soil injections, diaphragm walls, CSM, anchoring techniques, bored piles, and large-scale piling. And this involves a lot of material technology. Because how does a grout mixture behave under different conditions? Does a cement-bentonite mixture have exactly the right properties? And does the material used on a project meet all requirements? That is where you come in.
As a Materials Quality Specialist, you perform inspections, measurements, and material tests. You investigate, among other things, concrete, grout, cement-bentonite, and injection materials, and help colleagues monitor and further improve the quality of our foundation and soil improvement techniques. You become part of the Design, Engineering & Innovation department. Here you work together with a fellow quality specialist/laboratory technician, technical specialists, and designers. At the same time, you certainly won't just be sitting behind a desk or in a laboratory. You can regularly be found on our projects and become part of the project team there. This allows you to visit special places and projects throughout the Netherlands. Think of Verdiepte Ligging Vught, the Binnenhof in The Hague, and Zuidasdok in Amsterdam. Projects where at least as much happens underground as above ground.
The inspection and testing of materials such as concrete, cement, bentonite, sodium silicate, and additives;
Performing quality controls on, among other things, diaphragm walls, cement-bentonite walls, injections, and jet grout masses;
Performing mixture tests before we apply materials to a project;
Performing material tests and measurements at our project locations and in our laboratory in Dordrecht;
Measuring and assessing water quality;
Assisting our materials laboratory technician with research and material tests;
Investigating new materials and testing methods;
Thinking along about how we can further improve our materials, techniques, and working methods.
As a Materials Quality Specialist, you will be involved in, among other things:
Upon joining, you really don't need to know everything about foundation technology yet. Especially if you are curious about materials and technology, there is an enormous amount to learn here. From the properties of different mixtures to what happens dozens of meters below ground level. Our specialists are happy to guide you in this.
We are primarily looking for someone who becomes curious about technology and wants to know how something works. Someone who is accurate enough for the laboratory, but also enjoys putting on their work boots and getting to work outside on a project.
Do you think this position suits you, but you don't tick every box? Then please apply. Interest in technology, curiosity, and the will to learn the trade are at least as important to us.
Become enthusiastic? Then we would love to meet you! Would you like to meet a professional colleague informally first before you decide to apply, or do you have any questions? Then please contact Rick Haverkamp, Corporate Recruiter, by calling or sending a WhatsApp message to 06 - 31 65 29 90. We look forward to receiving your application!
