What we offer you
When you come to work at KWS, you step into the dynamic world of road construction. You represent a strong brand with a solid reputation. With us, as an employee, you get the space to take initiative and to grow. Together we work on our sustainable ambitions. We offer you;
A full-time salary between € 3,000 and € 4,500 gross, paid out in 13 periods every 4 weeks, depending on age and experience;

As a laboratory technician in road construction, do you want to contribute to the asphalt of the future? In our central laboratory, you will work on asphalt mixtures that make the Netherlands more sustainable and circular. Not a sterile laboratory where your white coat stays spotless, but a practical environment in which you investigate construction materials, perform tests, and contribute to the quality of roads.
Your job
As a laboratory technician, you will work in the Central laboratory that supports the KWS branches and 6 asphalt plants. You will investigate new construction materials, new asphalt mixtures, and conduct research to ensure mixtures can remain certified. In doing so, you will not work on one single standard product, but on hundreds of different asphalt recipes, each with its own properties and challenges.
Part of your work is investigating asphalt from ongoing projects or from the asphalt plants. When deviations are detected, we search for the cause. In this process, you perform tests, the results are analyzed, and we translate these into useful advice for colleagues and clients.
Additionally, you will participate in projects where new construction materials and raw materials are tested. Together with the team, you will investigate whether these materials contribute to more sustainable asphalt, lower emissions, or a longer lifespan for roads. In this way, you contribute directly to the development of circular products within road construction.
You prepare test mixtures by collecting, weighing, and sieving construction materials and making large batches. In this, you work with specialized equipment such as a gyrator, compression tester, desiccator, and a large sawing machine. Within the team, you coordinate the planning and share results and the progress of the research.
You will join an expert and engaged team where colleagues help each other, share knowledge, and collaborate. You will work at our central laboratory on the Bazeldijk in Hoogblokland, in the middle of the green polder. The laboratory is located on the same site as an asphalt plant. Because of this, we are directly connected to practice, and you can simply walk outside to collect your construction materials.
Your qualities
We find it important that you are enthusiastic and have an active work attitude. Additionally, you are someone who works accurately, are curious to understand the cause behind results, and enjoy conducting research. After your induction period, we expect an independent attitude in which you take initiative and consult easily with colleagues. Using logic, you know how to convert research results into conclusions and advice. Furthermore;
You are interested in our profession and have an affinity for technology;
Do you have no experience as a lab technician, but does this role appeal to you? No problem. We would be happy to teach you the trade, as long as you bring motivation and curiosity.
