The role

For over 265 years, we have been inspired by the thought 'It’s amazing what can happen over a cup of coffee'. In all that time, much has naturally changed. And change is good: it makes us better. We turn new ambitions into reality and discover other countries and markets. Always with attention to sustainability, room for every individual, and from our hearts. During this quest, one thing is central: we want the perfect cup of coffee or tea for everyone. Today, our coffee and tea products are available in more than 100 countries with a portfolio of more than 50 brands. Think of characterful brands such as L’OR, SENSEO®, Douwe Egberts, and Pickwick. JDE is part of JDE Peet's, the largest 'pure-play' coffee and tea company in the world, headquartered in the Netherlands.

Where will you be working?
Joure is the birthplace of Douwe Egberts, with a history of over 265 years. Today, two of our most important production sites are still located here: a coffee factory and a tea factory. And both are fully in motion. Every day, we work on the next step: producing even better, smarter, and more efficiently. Our goal? To become the best factories within JDE. As a Quality Engineer, you can make an important contribution to this.

Within every value stream, an Improvement Team works on continuous improvement. As a Quality Engineer, you will take the lead in this area regarding quality. From the QESH team, you are the connecting link between quality and the various teams within the factory. You bring people together, identify opportunities for improvement, and ensure that quality is firmly anchored in our way of working.

What you'll do

As a Quality Engineer, you play an important role in the continuous improvement of our production processes. You initiate, lead, and support improvement projects from the initial analysis through to implementation and safeguarding. Your main focus lies on reducing consumer complaints and achieving ‘Right First Time’: producing products correctly the first time, according to the highest quality standards.

You analyze where improvements are possible and translate these into structural and sustainable solutions. In doing so, you work closely with operators, technicians, and colleagues from various staff departments. You ensure that improvements are not only implemented but also become part of our daily way of working. Additionally, you are involved in investment projects from a quality perspective. In this role, you monitor quality aspects and guarantee a good quality transfer to operations.

Your responsibilities as a Quality Engineer:

Vacatureomschrijving

  • You are responsible for the implementation of risk management systems in the field of food safety and quality (HACCP, FMEA, etc.);
  • You implement and safeguard the CCPs, QCPs, and OPRPs (results) by initiating technical adjustments or implementing standards;
  • You are responsible for a quality culture on-site, whereby you ensure the building, maintaining, and training of quality knowledge of the processes in the factory;
  • You hold responsibility for: RFT, CPM, non-conformities, vendor management, complaint handling, and Quality Inspection;
  • You ensure the deployment of the correct Lean Manufacturing tools, where necessary, such as Kaizen, SMED, poka-yoke, 5S, visual management, and performance management.

Functie-eisen

Do you have an entrepreneurial attitude and do you get energy from achieving results? Then you will likely feel at home at JDE very quickly. For more than 265 years, our colleagues have been inspiring the international coffee and tea world. We believe in people who take initiative, see opportunities, and are not afraid to try something new. Because it is precisely by experimenting, learning, and trying again that we move forward together.

At JDE, we believe it is important that you make your voice heard and contribute to the result based on your own convictions. You will be given the space to take responsibility, develop yourself, and make an impact. We do this in an open, inclusive, and accessible working environment, in which everyone is given the space to grow in a way that suits them.

For the position of Quality Engineer, we are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
