Pediatric and Neonatal Nurse

As a high care neonatal nurse, you are the expert in caring for newborns with diverse care needs, ranging from low to high complexity. You provide development-oriented care and work according to the principles of Family Integrated Care, in which parents play an active role in the care of their child. You also involve brothers and sisters as much as possible in the care, so that the entire family feels seen and involved. You work with modern equipment, such as CPAP and High Flow for respiratory support, and engage daily in specialized nursing procedures, including tube feeding.

As a pediatric nurse, you offer specialized care to children and adolescents within almost all medical specialties. You monitor and support vital functions, have an eye for the psychosocial guidance of the patient and family, and guide parents in a warm, coaching manner. Together with colleagues and parents, you form one team in which development-oriented care is central.

Within the VKC, you will be given the space to think along about the further development of the department. You take initiative, contribute to an open and pleasant working atmosphere, and actively participate in working groups and projects. There are also plenty of opportunities to further develop yourself, for example, into a lactation consultant or pediatric oncology nurse. Working in a flexible shell is also among the possibilities.

The Neonatology department has 16 modern admission places, divided into spacious suites and multi-person rooms. You will join a dedicated multidisciplinary team of approximately 40 nurses, maternity care providers, coordinators, room service staff, cleaners, and secretaries. Due to the intensive and often long-term care, close collaborations arise, both with colleagues and with the families you support.

The Pediatric and Adolescent department offers care to patients from 0 to 18 years within all medical specialties. The department has 30 beds, divided between a clinical ward and a day clinic. In the day clinic, children are treated for, among other things, minor procedures, provocation tests, procedural sedation, and chemotherapy. Additionally, the department has its own acute gate (Emergency Room), fully equipped for the reception and treatment of children and adolescents.

You work together in a multidisciplinary team of pediatricians, pediatric nurses, pediatric oncology nurses, medical pedagogical caregivers, physiotherapists, dietitians, (pre)speech therapists, social workers, psychologists, and room service staff. Together, you form a dedicated team of approximately 50 colleagues in which collaboration and attention for one another are a matter of course.
