Requirements

What we're looking for

  • a completed HBO or WO degree in HRM;

  • at least 5 years of HR advisory experience within a larger organization and experience working within a larger HR department;

  • thorough knowledge of absenteeism and social legislation in the Netherlands;

  • a driver's license and the willingness to travel regularly within the region and to Amsterdam;

  • the ability to work independently, set priorities, and quickly find your way;

  • strong communication skills, a positive attitude, and a sense of collaboration, with a clear and steering role at the right moments.

The role

Rotterdam - Do you want to use your expertise as an experienced HR professional in a role with a lot of freedom, responsibility, and visible impact? At DPG Media, we are looking for an HR Advisor for our newsrooms in the Rotterdam region, including strong news brands such as AD and PZC. A role in which you operate independently, work closely with managers and HR colleagues, and stand in the middle of a journalistic environment that is constantly in motion.

What will you do?
As a senior HR Advisor, you are the HR sparring partner for executives and employees within several local newsrooms in the Rotterdam and Zeeland regions. In this role, you combine operational effectiveness with solid advice. You move easily between individual cases, team issues, and organizational changes, and ensure that HR policy also works well in practice.

And that makes every week different: you decide yourself, based on what is happening in your region and within the teams you support, where your focus lies. To make it concrete, in this role you will be involved in, among other things:

What you'll do

  • Carrying responsibility for an HR portfolio of approximately 400 employees, including editors and journalists from news brands such as AD and PZC.

  • Being visible in the region by being present at newsroom locations an average of three days per week, supplemented by a fixed day in Amsterdam at the head office, so that the connection with your direct HR colleagues also remains strong.

  • Advising on diverse HR issues, from absenteeism, well-being, and career development to team dynamics, turnover, and reorganizations, whereby you make decisions and deploy appropriate interventions where necessary.

  • Working closely with the business and HR colleagues, including executives, managers, editors-in-chief, HR Business Partners, the HR Service Center, recruiters, and specialists in areas such as L&D, employment conditions, well-being, and mobility.

  • Ensuring good execution of HR policy by supporting the business with its implementation in daily practice, without writing policy yourself. In doing so, you are also a substantive expert in the field of HR processes, instruments, labor law, and conducting interviews.

  • Looking ahead and improving by identifying trends and developments in the organization, proactively advising on these, and contributing to change projects, acquisitions, and good employer practices in practice.

You work in a journalistic environment where a lot happens and where critical questions are asked. That is precisely what makes this role interesting for an experienced HR professional who stands firmly in their shoes, operates independently, and knows how to convey advice clearly and well-substantiated.

What are we looking for in you?
An experienced HR professional who likes to take ownership, switches easily between different interests, and feels comfortable in an environment where a lot is happening. Someone who maintains course independently, communicates clearly, and knows when it is necessary to provide direction or to move along with the flow. In this role, experience comes together with organizational sensitivity, sharp advice, and a practical approach. Furthermore, you bring the following:
