Amsterdam - As a copy editor at de Volkskrant, you give stories the form and sharpness they deserve. Thanks to your critical eye, linguistic flair, and journalistic insight, articles reach their maximum impact, both online and in the newspaper.

What will you do?
As a copy editor, you are an indispensable link in the journalistic process. You ensure that stories are published with sharp content, polished language, and in alignment with the identity of de Volkskrant. With your critical eye, you safeguard the quality of our journalism and contribute to a strong presentation, both online and in the print newspaper. You will do this, among other things, by:

• Critically assessing, editing, and improving texts both in content and style where necessary.

• Writing sharp, engaging headlines and intros that align with the tone of de Volkskrant.

• Thinking along about the presentation of articles, taking into account the differences between online and print.

• Collaborating intensively with site managers, image editors, designers, and authors to ensure the quality of publications.

• Working carefully under time pressure and safeguarding the quality of the publications.

• A highly developed sense of language and style and the ability to analyze and improve texts quickly.

• Creativity for writing engaging headlines and intros.

• A good understanding of the journalistic identity and tone of de Volkskrant.

• Social skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with different disciplines.

• Experience within a journalistic organization is a plus.
