The role

Do you want to gain broad clinical experience after your studies and discover which specialty suits you? Or do you already know that your interest lies in geriatric medicine, general practice, or geriatrics? At Saffier, as a junior doctor, you are given the space to develop yourself as a doctor in full breadth.

What you'll do

You will work with vulnerable elderly people with complex, multifaceted issues. In doing so, it is rarely about a single diagnosis; somatics, cognition, psychiatry, medication, functioning, family, and quality of life come together. It is precisely that which makes geriatric medicine medically challenging in content. You will learn clinical reasoning, setting priorities, weighing treatment choices, and conducting conversations about what is truly important to someone.

As a junior doctor, you work independently under the supervision of a specialist in geriatric medicine. You will receive responsibility that matches your experience and development. You are never alone: lines of communication are short and consultation is easily accessible. In your first year, we will look at your development together and there is room for a personal development plan.

How you'll work

And at least as attractive: at Saffier, as a junior doctor, you do not work evening, night, or weekend shifts. You will therefore receive plenty of medical content and responsibility, but also regular working hours and space for a good balance outside of your work.

Your profile

  • You have completed medical training (BIG-registered)

  • You have an affinity with elderly care and like to look broader than just the medical aspect

  • You are eager to learn, have strong communication skills, and are open to multidisciplinary collaboration

What working as a general practitioner at Saffier offers you

  • A lot of learning through complex and varied cases

  • Independent work with easily accessible supervision from a specialist in geriatric medicine

  • Broad experience with different target groups and areas of expertise within elderly care

  • Structural peer review, education, and room for training and personal development

  • Working in a multidisciplinary team including psychologists and paramedics

  • Room for initiative, innovation, and personal interests

  • A good introduction to geriatric medicine and the possibility to orient yourself toward further training

  • No evening, night, or weekend shifts

  • Salary according to FWG 65 cao VVT, depending on knowledge and experience, up to max. €7,263.94 gross per month based on a 36-hour work week

  • Pension accrual at Pensioenfonds Zorg & Welzijn, 8% holiday allowance and 8.33% end-of-year bonus

  • Free fruit on location and attractive discounts on a bicycle, phone, tablet, laptop, wellness voucher or gym membership

Curious, but not yet sure if geriatric medicine is right for you? Come and meet us or shadow us for a day (or part of a day). Please contact Jelma Tazelaar via 06-17290817.

Hiring process

We would like to receive your motivation and CV digitally. This vacancy has no closing date. The vacancy will be closed at the moment we have found the suitable candidate. For more info about the application procedure, you can contact Mirella Favre, recruiter, via 06-82002417.
