The role

Location: Dordrecht & Rijswijk | Flexible number of hours

Are you at your best when most people have finished their workday?

Perhaps you currently work in a primary care practice, in education, or in another role within veterinary medicine. Perhaps you are (almost) retired, but miss the dynamics of the clinic. Or perhaps you find the variety and challenge of emergency care to be the best thing ever and want to work a shift every now and then.

Whatever your situation may be: if you get energy from evening, night, and weekend shifts, then we would love to meet you.

At AniCura Drechtstreek, we are looking for veterinarians who consciously choose emergency care outside of office hours. Whether you want to work one shift per month or are looking for a permanent place in our emergency team: we are happy to think along with you.

About AniCura Drechtstreek

Our locations in Dordrecht and Rijswijk together form one of the largest referral and emergency centers in Southwest Netherlands. Here, we provide high-quality veterinary care 24/7 and work intensively with experienced colleagues and specialists.

You will have access to all modern facilities, including CT, MRI, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and a fully equipped intensive care unit. Furthermore, you can always consult with colleagues from, among others, surgery, neurology, cardiology, internal medicine, dermatology, and imaging.

Your role

During the evening, night, and weekend shifts, you will be responsible, together with an experienced team, for the reception and treatment of emergency patients.

Your duties include:

  • Receiving, stabilizing, and treating emergency patients (primary and secondary care).

  • Guiding and monitoring admitted patients in our intensive care unit.

  • Consulting with specialists and colleagues to offer every patient the best possible care.

  • Maintaining contact with referring veterinarians and owners.

No shift is the same. It is precisely that variety and acute care that make the work so challenging.

Who is this position interesting for?

This vacancy is, for example, ideal for veterinarians who:

  • work in a primary care practice and would also like to do emergency shifts;

  • are employed in education or another role and want to continue doing clinical work;

  • are (almost) retired, but would like to continue utilizing their knowledge and experience;

  • consciously want to work fewer hours, but are seeking the challenge of emergency care;

  • simply get enthusiastic about evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Together with us, you determine what fits your availability. A few shifts per month or a structural commitment: both are negotiable.

What do we offer?

  • A dedicated and experienced emergency team in which you are never alone.

  • Modern equipment and excellent diagnostic possibilities.

  • Intensive collaboration with specialists.

  • An induction program tailored to your experience.

  • Room for development and an extensive continuing education budget.

  • Flexibility in the number of shifts you wish to work.

  • A challenging work environment where your expertise directly makes a difference.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for a veterinarian who:

  • Have completed a degree in Veterinary Medicine.

  • Are registered in the CIBG register.

  • Have an affinity with companion animals and emergency care.

  • Can work independently and enjoy collaborating.

  • Remain calm under pressure and love variety.

Experience in emergency care is a plus, but enthusiasm and the motivation to provide high-quality care outside of office hours are at least as important to us.

Interested?

Does it sound like fun to (become) part of an enthusiastic emergency team? Or would you first like to meet without obligation to discuss which shifts suit your situation?

We would love to get in touch with you.
