The role

  • As Manager Technology Core & Connectivity, you are responsible for the technological foundation of Schiphol. You lead the teams that ensure the availability, security, and continuity of our on-premises infrastructure, cloud platforms, networks, and platform security.
  • You will receive ultimate responsibility for one of the most complex technology domains within Schiphol, with the space to truly shape both strategy and execution together with product leads and engineers. Ambition, autonomy, and a strong team come together here.
  • We are going for it: Schiphol has the ambition to be among the top 3 European airports. A future-proof, secure, and scalable digital infrastructure is a crucial success factor in this.

As Manager Technology Core & Connectivity, you lead the domain that forms the digital foundation of Schiphol. A 24/7 environment that millions of travelers, employees, and partners rely on daily. You lead four specialized teams that together ensure a stable, secure, and future-proof IT infrastructure:

You are responsible for the strategy, service delivery, performance, and further development of the central infrastructure services. In doing so, you combine technical vision with organizational development and execution power. How exactly you realize this? That is up to you. You will apply your talents to:

Enterprise Technology is the department in which all generic IT is brought together. The department delivers standardized building blocks - such as infrastructure, platform services, connectivity, and digital workplace services - which are used by the Business Platforms for the development and management of their domain-specific solutions. Enterprise Technology thus functions as the technological foundation within Digital & Technology and enables the Business Platforms to focus on value creation for their business domain.

What you'll do

  • Passive Infrastructure & Housing - responsible for the physical IT infrastructure, including data center and technical rooms, cabling, and the facilities that support the digital infrastructure.
  • Network & Security - responsible for Schiphol's enterprise connectivity services. The team delivers and manages the complete network service provision, including LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi, internet connectivity, firewalls, network security, remote access, and connectivity for mission-critical operational and office environments.
  • On-Prem & Cloud Infrastructure - responsible for the enterprise compute, storage, virtualization, and cloud platforms. This includes, among others, the data center infrastructure, Microsoft Azure, Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), and the underlying infrastructure services on which Schiphol's applications run.
  • Trusted Platform Services - responsible for the platform services that form the digital foundation of trust for Schiphol, including Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), Privileged Access Management (PAM), certificate services, secrets management, and other identity- and trust-related platform services.
  • realizing an optimized service portfolio in which security, cost-efficiency, and innovation are structurally balanced.
  • standardizing service delivery towards Business Platform Teams and monitoring clear service levels, governance, and compliance.
  • building strategic partnerships with suppliers and managing a multi-vendor landscape, in interplay with Service Integration.
  • representing Technology Core & Connectivity within the management of Digital & Technology and actively contributing to the overall IT & Data strategy up to Director level.

How you'll work

  • You know when something is good enough to move forward. You guard the balance between quality and progress, make substantiated choices, and prevent perfection from slowing down speed or impact. You stimulate your team to work pragmatically, to learn in the process, and to continuously improve together.
  • You work with full end-to-end ownership: you tackle issues from start to finish, maintain an overview of the entire process, and ensure that results actually land in the organization. You monitor the coherence between strategy, execution, and impact and take responsibility until it truly works for the business.
  • You are a strong interlocutor for the Business Platform Teams. You challenge the business to choose for standardized solutions and platform services wherever possible, while maintaining the right balance between business value, standardization, security, manageability, and costs.

And if sourcing is involved:

  • You are responsible for the strategic management of a complex multi-vendor ecosystem. You determine the right balance between internal expertise and external services, build sustainable partnerships with suppliers, and ensure effective control over quality, costs, innovation, and the continuity of the mission-critical infrastructure.

You've got this

  • provide direction to the strategy for the core infrastructure and connect with managers, product leads, and engineers within a broad field of stakeholders.
  • combine technical depth with execution power and ensure results land in a 24/7 mission-critical environment.
  • can act as both client and senior supplier in complex strategic projects; within your own domain and within Business Platform domains.
