The role
As a Functional Manager Energy Management, you contribute to the digitalization ambitions of the Business Platform Infrastructure & IT Projects (BPIP). You are part of the Functional Management Team within Process & Monitoring Technology and, together with an experienced colleague, you are responsible for the applications that monitor and support Schiphol's low- and high-voltage networks. And how do you do that? Your way. We rely on your technical expertise, analytical ability, and ownership to realize smart solutions for a complex and dynamic environment. You will apply your talents to:
What you'll do
- managing and optimizing Energy Management applications such as Power Monitoring Expert (PME) and ADMS, including supporting the implementation of Smart Grid applications.
- analyzing incidents and disruptions through log files, server management, software updates, and technical troubleshooting.
- improving management processes so that applications remain reliable, manageable, and future-proof.
- unlocking energy data from thousands of energy points and translating this into usable insights for stakeholders.
- developing dashboards and reports with which deviations are signaled early and disruptions in the energy grid can be prevented.
- supporting and training users so they can make optimal use of the available monitoring and management tools.
- collaborating with Technical Experts, suppliers, and (Operational) Installation Managers to continuously improve the performance, reliability, and safety of the electricity network.
- contributing to the further digitalization of Schiphol by taking the monitoring, reporting, and control of the energy infrastructure to a higher level.
How you'll work
At Schiphol Infrastructure, we design, build, and manage all of Schiphol's physical and digital assets. That is our contribution to Schiphol's ambition to be a high-quality, safe, and sustainable airport.
With over 800 colleagues, we work daily on major infrastructural challenges. We are making our energy supply more sustainable, electrifying assets, modernizing crucial systems, and ensuring that the airport remains operational in a constantly changing world. The energy transition plays an increasingly large role in this. That is why we are investing heavily in smart technology, data-driven decision-making, and innovative energy systems. And you will make an important contribution to that.
Nice to know you
- You ensure that Schiphol maintains insight into its energy supply. Thanks to your work, we can better manage grid congestion, support the energy transition, and signal deviations early to prevent disruptions.
- The Functional Management Monitoring & Control Team consists of 7 colleagues who work daily on improving and future-proofing the applications that play a crucial role within Schiphol's infrastructure. As a Functional Manager Energy Management, you are the primary point of contact for the applications within this domain.
- You combine IT knowledge with electrotechnical expertise, allowing you to move effortlessly between users, technical specialists, and suppliers.
You've got this
You feel at home at the intersection of IT and electrotechnics. You understand how applications work, but also what impact they have on an operational energy environment. You are curious, analytically strong, and enjoy building smart solutions that truly matter together with colleagues. Additionally, you possess:
- HBO (higher professional education) level of work and thinking.
- at least 3 years of experience as a Functional Manager of On-Prem applications or in a similar role.
- experience with technical application management, software updates, server management, and incident analysis.
- experience in translating user requirements into practical IT solutions.
- strong communication skills and the ability to switch between different stakeholders.
- a structured way of working, allowing you to maintain an overview in an environment where multiple tasks run in parallel.
- demonstrable basic knowledge of electrotechnics, so that you are a full-fledged sparring partner for Technical Experts, Installation Managers, and other specialists within the energy domain.
- affinity with energy supplies, energy management systems, or industrial monitoring and control systems is a strong plus.
Why this role is unique:
Not many positions combine functional management, energy management, and critical infrastructure on this scale. At Schiphol, you don't just work on applications, but you contribute directly to the reliability of the energy supply of an airport that operates 24/7. You see the direct impact of your work in the operation, work together with experts from different disciplines, and play an active role in Schiphol's energy transition. This makes the position technically challenging, socially relevant, and incredibly versatile.
