Manager Engineering

A completed HBO or WO degree in a technical or business administration direction.

Experience in a leadership position within engineering, mechanical engineering, high-tech, or a technical production environment.

Experience with project management, product introductions, and industrialization.

Knowledge of LEAN, continuous improvement, and process optimization.

Strong communication skills and a connecting leadership style.

Your role

As Engineering Manager, you are responsible for the further development of the engineering team within VDL Defentec. You ensure that projects are successfully translated from quotation and concept to an efficient and manageable production environment.

You manage quality, manufacturability, planning, capacity, and costs. In doing so, you work intensively with production, purchasing, project management, and management. You are a sparring partner at both strategic and operational levels and play an important role in the further growth of the organization.

Your primary duties:

• Building, managing, and further developing a multidisciplinary engineering team.
• Monitoring capacity, priorities, and resource planning for ongoing and future projects.
• Driving the successful introduction of new products, systems, and production processes.
• Ensuring technical feasibility, quality, and cost-efficiency throughout the project cycle.
• Connecting engineering, production, purchasing, and project management.
• Managing technical and operational risks in quotations and projects.
• Initiating and realizing improvements in the areas of industrialization, efficiency, and operational excellence.
• Reporting on results, risks, and development opportunities to the director.

You are a strong personality who brings structure to a dynamic, technical environment. You know how to bring people along during changes, can switch effectively between strategy and execution, and have an eye for both technology and organizational development.
