The role

As Asset Manager - Airside, you provide direction to the performance, reliability, and future-proofing of the civil infrastructure on which the airport operates daily. You move in an environment where safety, availability, and reliable operation continuously converge and where maintenance, investment, and contract decisions have a direct impact on the airport.
At the same time, you are stepping in at a crucial moment. Within SHIFT, Schiphol is innovating the way asset management and maintenance are organized. In doing so, Schiphol is taking more control over performance, risks, data, and collaboration with partners. You play an important role in shaping that change and help build the working methods, frameworks, and choices that support the future organization. How exactly you realize this? That is up to you. We trust in the way you make connections with other people. You will apply your talents to:

What you'll do

  • steering performance of, among others, civil Airside assets, including platforms, service roads, rainwater drainage and gutters, and coastal works, and suppliers via KPIs and contractual agreements. You analyze deviations and determine measures when safety, availability, quality, costs, or risks are under pressure.
  • managing complex maintenance contracts by preparing agreements and performance statements. Also, holding suppliers accountable and co-assessing quotes, extra work, and reimbursable activities regarding scope, risks, and price structure belongs to this role.
  • drawing up and updating asset management and tactical area plans within a framework. You translate performance, risks, costs, and developments into a substantiated course for maintenance, modification, renovation, replacement, and life extension.
  • preparing decision-making regarding budgets, performance frameworks, risks, and lifecycle choices with business cases, data and performance analyses, and an independent advice to the Team Manager Asset Management or Cluster Manager.
  • directing the full modification process, initiating process improvements, and leading civil sub-projects. You guide asset managers and coordinate measures with reliability engineers, maintenance engineers, and planners.

You work within the SHIFT program (Schiphol Infrastructure in Transition), the program with which Schiphol is innovating collaboration with maintenance partners and strengthening its own organization. Schiphol is taking more control over safety, quality, performance, costs, and asset data. While operational processes on the airside run 24/7, you give this change concrete shape. You steer partners toward agreements and results, direct modifications, and translate performance, risks, and lifespan into choices regarding budget, maintenance, and investments.

Nice to know (you)

  • The performance of the entire area is central, where you steer civil infrastructure that is directly decisive for the safe and reliable handling of aircraft. Your choices regarding performance, risks, contracts, and investments demonstrably contribute to this.
  • Within SHIFT, a new collaboration model with market parties is being developed, with the aim of gaining more control over asset performance. We achieve this by strengthening asset management within our own organization and thereby actively steering on costs, performance, and risks.
  • At Schiphol, we work every day on innovation and improvement. In this way, we keep the Netherlands moving and create thousands of jobs and opportunities for people.
