Clinical Perfusionist

The clinical perfusionist is responsible for performing extracorporeal circulation in the broadest sense of the word and is co-responsible for supporting with blood management and assist devices. These techniques are primarily applied within the specialty of cardiothoracic surgery.
Furthermore, we are involved in ECLS procedures in the Intensive Care unit and HIPEC in oncological surgery. Additionally, there is the possibility to contribute to developments within the field and to conduct scientific research.

What makes this position so fun according to the clinical perfusionists:

In our OR, we work in a fixed thorax team, so you will join a small and friendly group of colleagues. To address any preconceptions: MST is an off-pump center. We do indeed perform a lot of off-pump surgery, but this provides many opportunities for side activities. Additionally, we have an enormously growing minimally invasive surgery program that requires extensive and challenging perfusion techniques.

As a certified clinical perfusionist, you will work in the Extracorporeal Circulation (ECC) department. The team currently consists of 8 certified clinical perfusionists and one clinical perfusionist in training. As a team, we are independent, reliable, goal-oriented, flexible, and passionate, with an informal and friendly working atmosphere. Approximately 1,100 heart surgeries are performed at MST annually, a significant portion of which are performed minimally invasively, and the future perspective in the field of perfusion technology remains in motion.

• You (soon) hold NeSECC certification;

• you have a good command of the Dutch language and possess good communication skills;

• you are willing to work irregular hours and perform on-call duties;

• you are willing to perform additional departmental tasks;

• you are a personal addition to our team.
