The role
This is what you will do
As Business Manager HR, you will lead the HR department and, together with the organization, develop a future-oriented vision on people and work. You will strengthen HR as both a strategic partner and a reliable service provider. You will play a key role in the change challenges of MST and translate daily personnel challenges into clear choices for the healthcare of tomorrow. You will realize those choices together with management, healthcare professionals, and your HR team.
Healthcare is changing at a high pace. The demand for care is increasing, labor market shortages and high absenteeism are putting pressure on available capacity, and technological developments such as digitalization and AI are changing the way we work. These developments require not only different choices and ways of organizing, but also change within MST. To keep our care future-proof, we must work differently, collaborate differently, and make conscious choices in how we deploy our people and resources. In this role, you will help direct this organization-wide movement. You will bring sharpness to what this change requires from employees and leadership, help break existing patterns, and create the necessary conditions to actually implement change in practice.
This requires a leader who looks beyond the boundaries of the HR field. Together with other healthcare organizations, educational institutions, and partners outside of healthcare, you will develop and realize solutions for inflow, training, career development, and employability that a single organization cannot achieve alone.
Together with the department and the organization, you will develop a future-oriented HR agenda that aligns with the ambitions of MST. You will stay close to the primary process, know what employees and managers need to provide good care, and involve them in developing solutions. In doing so, you will connect inflow and retention to healthy and pleasant working, development, and the reorganization of work. You will bring focus, set priorities, and ensure clear responsibilities, measurable results, and implementation in practice.
Within the HR department, you are a visible and engaged leader. You provide direction, develop the team, and strengthen the collaboration between the various HR expertise areas. You ensure the basics are in order and improve service delivery and work processes, also with the help of data and technology. In this way, you build a department that provides reliable support and actively contributes to the development of people, leadership, culture, and labor productivity within MST.
Additionally:
You provide direction to the further professionalization of the HR organization and ensure clear responsibilities, team development, and reliable service delivery
You advise the Board of Directors and management on organizational development, leadership, labor market, and change issues, and you take responsibility for the realization of the HR contribution
You connect strategic workforce planning to changes in healthcare, required skills, and new ways of working, with attention to behavior, culture, leadership, and sustainable employability
You strengthen collaboration within HR and with the primary process, developing solutions together with employees and managers
You stimulate a culture of social safety, collaboration, and ownership
You utilize digitalization, AI, and technology to support employees, reduce administrative burden, and improve both healthcare processes and HR processes
You bear responsibility for health and safety (Arbo), working conditions, health, and sustainable employability, and you work together with managers and employees on retention, job satisfaction, and the prevention and reduction of avoidable absenteeism
You act as the figurehead of MST in the area of people, work, and employerhood, and you translate regional and national collaboration into concrete, cross-organizational initiatives for inflow, training, career development, and employability
Co-responsible for all of MST
As a member of the management team, you share responsibility for the development of MST as a whole. You participate in the development and implementation of hospital-wide policy and work closely with fellow business managers, medical managers, and the Board of Directors.
You move easily within a complex administrative-political environment where diverse interests converge. At the same time, you actively build regional collaboration and position MST as an attractive employer in an environment where talent is becoming increasingly scarce.
This is where you will work
Medisch Spectrum Twente is a top-clinical hospital where more than 4,000 employees work every day on the best possible care for patients. As part of Santeon, we work together with other top-clinical hospitals on innovation, quality, and improvement of care.
In addition, MST is fully committed to innovation, digitalization, and medical technology. With MST MedTech, we build the hospital of the future together with healthcare professionals, companies, and knowledge institutions. You can read more about this at medtech.mst.nl.
The HR department supports the organization on various themes such as the labor market, leadership, talent development, organizational development, sustainable employability, working conditions, and strategic workforce planning. You are an important sparring partner for the Board of Directors, management, medical staff, and works council.
