The role

This is what you will do

Are you an IC nurse, do you get energy from varied work, AND do you want to work in a top-clinical hospital in the region? At MST, you work with the latest technologies and get space to continue developing yourself. Are you looking for a new challenge? We would love to meet you!

Working in the Intensive Care means working in a dynamic environment where complex care, technology, and human contact come together. As an IC nurse, you play an important role in the care of critically ill patients. You observe, analyze, and act where necessary, keeping an eye on both the patient and their immediate environment. This requires curiosity, a strong sense of responsibility, and the willingness to continuously continue developing yourself.

As an IC nurse in training, you begin your work-study trajectory with a 3-month preparatory period within our Intensive Care Center (ICC). Upon demonstrated suitability, you will start the training in October/November 2027. The theory is offered by CIVO educators, while you work on your practical assignments within the department. The total training lasts approximately 18 months. Of this, the first 6 months are the Basic Acute Care (BAZ) training and the last 12 months are the Intensive Care EPAs. You will also follow a number of additional specific EPAs with which you can further specialize in a specific care category; think here of Thoracic Surgery, Neurology and Neurosurgery, and complex and highly complex mechanical circulatory support. Due to the supra-regional function of our Intensive Care, these EPAs are mandatory.

Prior to the training, you will be assigned 2 or 3 work supervisors who will guide you during the training. An internship period in the CCU, ER, and Anesthesia or Recovery also forms part of the training. The combination of learning in practice and attending lectures ensures that you can immediately apply newly acquired knowledge, allowing you to grow increasingly in your role as an IC nurse.

This is where you will work

The ICC of MST is one of the largest in the Netherlands. MST thereby fulfills a supra-regional function for thoracic surgery, traumatology, and neurosurgery, which ensures a large variety of patients and conditions. This makes working as an IC nurse within MST versatile, challenging, and above all, interesting. In addition to caring for patients in the Intensive Care, you will also learn to fulfill the role of nurse for the entire hospital, such as being part of the Emergency Intervention Team (SIT) or the Resuscitation Team. With this, you assess and treat patients in the nursing wards, provide advice where necessary, and perform reserved procedures.

You will join a diverse team with colleagues of different ages, backgrounds, and experience levels. From enthusiastic starters to highly experienced professionals: together we learn from each other and strengthen each other's qualities. To ensure continuity, we train IC nurses annually. We invest a lot of energy in development, education, CRM (Crew Resource Management), and scientific research. Thus, with us, you get space to participate in working groups, attend training days, visit symposia, and further develop yourself professionally and personally. What you bring

You do not shy away from a challenge, you have a talent for clinical reasoning, and in your own way, you are an enthusiastic addition to the team. Additionally, you are someone who can prioritize well, dares to be critical, and has a proactive learning attitude. You take charge of your own training. This means that you take control over what, when, and how you learn, so that this aligns perfectly with your daily work as an IC nurse.

Additionally, you possess:

  •          An Inservice, MBO and/or HBO Nursing diploma with a valid BIG registration;

  •          Several years of work experience as a nurse within a clinical setting.
