The role
This is what you will do
As a planner within the Women & Children's Center, you ensure that staff scheduling aligns as closely as possible with the care demand. No two days are the same. You maintain an overview, think ahead, and work together with colleagues to find suitable solutions when there are changes in the schedule.
In addition, you will be given the space to work together with the other planners and coordinators to build a future-proof staff schedule. You map out current and future staffing needs and look at what developments such as natural turnover, pregnancy, and attrition mean for staffing levels. Based on that insight, you search together for possibilities to improve the schedule and offer sufficient flexibility without making it vulnerable. In this way, you advise department management on staff deployment and the capacity required now and in the future.
Your responsibilities include
drawing up, managing, and adjusting the staff schedule;
coaching and guiding employees in participating in scheduling/team scheduling;
coordinating the deployment and availability of employees;
identifying bottlenecks and searching for creative and feasible solutions;
looking ahead to the required staffing levels and contributing to forecasts;
making it clear what developments such as natural turnover, pregnancy, and attrition mean for staffing needs;
advising on staff deployment, capacity, and the flexible workforce;
maintaining and analyzing scheduling data;
working with, among others, OWS and Excel;
contributing to the further development and professionalization of staff scheduling.
Sometimes the daily schedule demands your immediate attention, while at other times you are looking further ahead. It is precisely that combination that makes this position dynamic and challenging: you do not just work in the schedule, but also on the schedule.
This is where you will work
You will start working within the Women & Children's Center, where you will work with colleagues within Neonatology & Child, among others. Staff scheduling is fully in development. We are looking at the way we plan and how daily staff deployment and long-term staffing needs can align well.
You will work closely with the other planners and coordinators. You will not only deal with the daily staff schedule but also think along about developments, identify bottlenecks, and advise on staff deployment.
At the start, you will be guided by an experienced colleague so that you get to know the departments, working methods, and specific scheduling issues well. You will also be given the space to contribute to developments and pilots regarding the further design of staff scheduling (e.g., chronoscheduling). This way, you can actually help build the way we organize scheduling for the future: efficient, flexible, and as little vulnerable as possible.
This is a position of 12 hours per week for a duration of one year. The expectation is that, in the long term, opportunities will arise for an increase in hours and a permanent contract.
What you bring
You do not need to have a nursing or medical background. We primarily find it important that you have experience with planning and organizing, collaborate easily, and want to further develop within staff and capacity planning.
You love overview and structure, but also know that reality cannot always be planned. When the situation changes, you remain calm, set priorities, and look for what is possible. You make contact easily, listen well, and know how to bring different interests together.
Do you want to know if this position suits you? Or do you want more information about the content of the position?

has an affinity with staff scheduling and scheduling issues;
makes contact easily and communicates clearly;
maintains an overview and can set priorities, even when it is busy;
dares to ask critical questions and acts in a solution-oriented manner;
thinks ahead and can translate developments into staffing needs;
is creative and solution-oriented;
works accurately and analytically;
can work well with Excel and quickly masters digital systems;
preferably has knowledge of OWS, or quickly picks up new scheduling systems;
collaborates pleasantly and also dares to take on an advisory role;
is flexible and enjoys working with others on improvement.
