As a Healthcare Security Officer on the HIC, you are there for the guidance, care, and well-being of our patients. You support self-care and structure, observe changes, and contribute to a safe living environment.
But on an HIC, your role goes beyond just daily care. You work with patients in an acute psychiatric crisis and therefore deal with situations where tension can escalate quickly. You remain calm, make contact, and look for ways to de-escalate a situation.
Together with your colleagues, you ensure that patients feel as safe as possible. Even when that is not a given for a moment.
Your work begins with the basics: being there for the patient. You offer guidance, have an eye for what someone needs at that moment, and help patients to function as independently as possible.
At the same time, you keep a close eye on what is changing. You observe psychological and somatic functioning, and watch for changes in self-care and behavior. Do you signal something unusual? Then you discuss this with your colleagues and take action.
Safety plays an important role on the HIC. You are able to recognize tension early and respond to it. Sometimes a calm conversation is sufficient. Sometimes it is necessary to set clear boundaries or to act directly, in collaboration with your colleagues.
When a situation escalates, you remain professional and act according to the agreed-upon arrangements and protocols. You work in a de-escalating manner and support the nurse during a crisis intervention where necessary.
On the HIC, we focus on short-term, intensive treatments for patients in an acute psychiatric crisis. Our most important principle? Using as little coercion and pressure as possible, with maximum attention to the patient and their loved ones.
Stronger together on the HIC: The ward has space for 21 patients who require acute care. You are never alone; you always work in a team to provide the best possible, appropriate care and safety.
Intensive collaboration: The total team consists of approximately 55 dedicated colleagues. Within this close, multidisciplinary treatment team, you work closely with lead practitioners, nurses, social workers, and occupational therapists.
The atmosphere on the ward: Our dynamics are best described by the keywords getting things done, low-threshold communication, fun, and decisiveness. We work hard, but always in a positive and collegial atmosphere.
You are involved and practically minded. You are a good listener, connect with a patient's possibilities, and have an eye for small changes.
Additionally, you are firm enough to act when a situation demands it. You are not easily rattled and understand that de-escalating does not mean letting everything happen. Precisely by staying calm, communicating clearly, and setting boundaries, you help to keep situations safe.
You enjoy developing yourself further within psychiatry and learning more about different pathologies and the High Intensive Care methodology. These trainings are offered internally.
Furthermore, you know how important teamwork is. Especially at night, you must be able to rely on one another. You therefore actively collaborate with nurses and other colleagues and know when to call for help.
You have knowledge at MBO-3/4 level and relevant experience in healthcare or with a similar target group.
You are willing to learn the working methods and protocols of the ward.
You can signal changes in the psychological and somatic well-being of clients.
You are careful, reliable, and can collaborate well.
You are primarily available for night shifts.
The position is scaled in FWG 35/40 cao GGZ, depending on education and experience.
At GGZ inGeest, you get plenty of room to continue developing yourself.

With #Geestverwanten we show who we really are: people who take care blood-seriously, but fortunately not always themselves. Especially now that healthcare is working hard, we are looking for colleagues who understand that laughing is at least as important as listening.
