How special is it that, as an ICU nurse, you not only provide intensive care to oncological patients, but also combine this with a role as a clinical instructor for students in training for the Intensive Care and recovery departments?
In your position, you bring care, knowledge, and development together. You offer patients with diverse oncological pathologies not only excellent technical treatment, but also psychosocial support. The unique aspect of our ICU is that patients are usually awake. They come to us after a technically highly complex surgery, leaving vital organs vulnerable. By offering them a listening ear in addition to medical care, you are truly meaningful. That gives us—your future colleagues—enormous satisfaction every single day.
You provide intensive care to surgical and medical oncological patients. Much of the care is postoperative, meaning the average length of stay is relatively short.
You have the time to also provide emotional support to patients (and their loved ones). You often work 1-on-1, sometimes 1-on-2, giving you real space to ensure people feel heard and seen.
You have a lot of autonomy and influence. Your (treatment) proposals are truly valued during multidisciplinary consultations with physicians.
You get the opportunity to participate in working groups where you focus with colleagues on areas of interest such as infection prevention, ventilation, circulation, or the green ICU.
You have input regarding your schedule. Wherever possible, we take your preferences into account so that your work and private life remain well-balanced. Furthermore, we intend to introduce self-scheduling soon—a wonderful prospect!
In addition to your work as an ICU nurse, you work one day per week as a clinical instructor for the Medium Care, Intensive Care, and recovery departments. In this role, you actively contribute to the development of colleagues and the quality of care. You will be involved in:
Guiding and assessing students and new employees;
Creating optimal learning conditions and a stimulating learning environment;
Monitoring and promoting the quality of training and care delivery;
Coaching and supervising colleagues and work supervisors;
Planning and organizing training activities;
Participating in job interviews to attract and assess new talent.
In this way, you make an important contribution not only to the care of our patients, but also to the development of the next generation of ICU and recovery professionals.
You can empathize well with patients and reassure them. With your positive attitude, you give them confidence in a good outcome. Additionally, you keep a cool head in stressful situations. Moreover, you are open to changes, for example in work processes, you possess good self-reflection, and you want to continue learning constantly. Furthermore, you have:
A degree in HBO-nursing or A-nursing, supplemented by a specialization in Intensive Care. A specialization in oncology is not required; you will learn everything about that with us!
An affinity for training and a willingness to further professionalize yourself in this area, in collaboration with the other clinical instructors.
We are curious about your talent. Will you make the difference in the world of cancer? Apply quickly via the application button! For more information about the position, you can contact Anne Zuurbier (team leader) via 020-5121591. Welcome to our ICU! We, a close-knit team of approximately 30 nurses, would love to welcome you. How do we experience our workplace? As a medical center with enormous impact—where groundbreaking cancer research is conducted and technically highly complex care is provided—and simultaneously a department with the convivial atmosphere of a smaller hospital.
We are a dedicated and loyal team. Despite the intensity of our work, there is room for lightheartedness—during breaks, and certainly also during our enjoyable team outings.
