The role

Arcadis is the global partner at the forefront of the most impactful projects of our time. We help our clients make sustainable choices through the combination of digital innovation, expertise, and future-oriented skills in areas such as environment, energy, water, buildings, transport, and infrastructure. We take that extra step to offer our clients tailored solutions for design, engineering, and consultancy. By utilizing data-driven insights, we shape the natural and built environment together.

With more than 34,000 people, we pool global expertise and tackle challenges such as climate, affordable energy, and livable cities together. We improve quality of life through our presence in more than 30 countries.

The Dutch landscape is constantly changing. We help make that development possible in a sustainable way. What kind of projects do we do? Think of nature development, solar and wind farms, dike reinforcements, improving water quality, improving the rail network, and contributing to the energy transition by strengthening the high-voltage grid. These are no longer standalone projects nowadays. They are a catalyst for integrated area development, in which themes such as participation, climate adaptation, energy transition, and nature development are indispensable. It requires a multidisciplinary perspective and an eye for detail. Our work is regularly on the critical path, which means that maintaining an overview always has priority, even when many interests are at stake. As a permit management advisor, you find this precisely exciting and challenging. This is your playground where you take on projects with visible pleasure.

What you'll do

As a Permits Management Advisor, you will work on complex area development projects that contribute to the sustainable development of the Netherlands. You are responsible for organizing and guiding permit processes, coordinating diverse interests, and creating a smooth process from planning to execution. In doing so, you work closely with clients, competent authorities, and multidisciplinary project teams on projects such as energy transition, nature development, water safety, and infrastructure.

  • Identifying, analyzing, and prioritizing various stakeholder interests within projects.
  • Coordinating conditioning studies required for permit processes.
  • Drafting and implementing strategies for permit applications and spatial procedures.
  • Guiding projects throughout the entire project life cycle, from the tender phase to evaluation.
  • Maintaining contacts with clients, competent authorities, and other external stakeholders.
  • Advising on the application of relevant laws and regulations within spatial development.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to tackle complex issues in an integrated manner.

In their own words

About the company & team

You will join a close-knit team of approximately 15 colleagues within the Decision-making Physical Living Environment advisory group. This advisory group is one of the groups within the approximately 200-person large Sustainable Living Environment market group. This is a varied, enthusiastic, and dynamic group spread across the entire Netherlands. Our advisory group works on very different projects. For example, we advise TenneT on their challenges to connect large-scale offshore wind farms to the grid. We also provide knowledge on permits & planning procedures for the construction of two new large nuclear power plants in the Netherlands. For Rijkswaterstaat, we help with the implementation of the requirements from the Water Framework Directive. Each one is a complex issue, where we ensure that the shovel can hit the ground.
