Role description:

As a junior systems integration engineer, you will work on challenging projects where you make complex issues manageable step-by-step. You do this by applying systems engineering techniques, creating connections, and demonstrating leadership. You provide the right context so that technical specialists are able to deliver substantive solutions in a controlled manner.

What you'll do

You will work in dynamic and socially relevant domains such as ProRail and NS, light rail projects (metro and tram connections), Rijkswaterstaat, and Tennet. Within these projects, your insights as a systems integrator play a crucial role throughout the entire lifecycle of the systems. With a focus on how different systems work together and are integrated within complex projects, you contribute to ensuring successful system integration within the set project time, especially in the early project phases.

In your role, you have one foot in technology and the other in society. Through your commitment, you ensure that technical solutions actually result in social added value. Step-by-step, you will be trained to become an expert in integrating complex systems, making a direct contribution to improving our living environment.

Role responsibilities:

As a junior systems integration engineer, you will participate in various activities, such as:

  • Supporting large projects with systems engineering tasks in all lifecycle phases of the project, such as translating customer requirements (system behavior, system use and how it delivers added value, how it can be worked with) and technical language (functions, how well it must work, how it should look, how the parts fit together), drafting and managing requirements, ensuring that multidisciplinary designs can progress integrated, analyzing concepts and systems, or tracking the status of verification and validation, and drafting test and integration plans;
  • Assisting senior systems integrator consultants with their external assignments. Such as performing sub-assignments for clients in system integration or information management.
  • Contributing to tender and quotation processes to acquire new assignments;
  • Deepening the application of systems thinking and integration management, alongside our Dutch and international colleagues;
  • Setting up, managing and/or executing and reporting on integration tests (testbed or pilot operation) on existing projects, in a team with experienced colleagues.

With these activities, you contribute to successful projects and social added value.

Qualifications & Experience

You are an ambitious starter with perseverance and a talent for connecting. You are eager to learn and know how to work in a people-oriented way within the technical engineering world. You enjoy and find importance in developing yourself, both through formal and informal methods. You have the flexibility to work on multiple projects simultaneously and are motivated to deepen your knowledge of the principles of systems thinking and systems engineering. Additionally, you want to develop yourself in the interplay of technologies within your field as well as your own leadership skills. This entry-level position offers an ideal start for your career; work experience is a plus, but not a requirement.

What do you bring?

  • Education: You have a completed HBO (higher professional education) or WO (university) degree in a technical direction, such as electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer and network engineering, chemical engineering, transport science, spatial development, technical business administration, technical management science, or civil engineering. Aspects of multidisciplinary interaction, systems thinking, and managing complexity emerge within these.
  • Affinity: You have an interest in the world of physical infrastructure.
  • Social commitment: You have an eye for how engineering solutions can deliver social added value.
  • Characteristics: You are entrepreneurial, creative, and have a commercial mindset. Additionally, you are used to looking at the context first and then the content of challenges.
  • Soft skills: You are a strong communicator, socially skilled, and a true connector. You work independently, but value team dynamics. You are result-oriented and aware of the influence of different perspectives on the same subject.
  • Language proficiency: You have a good command of both the Dutch and English languages.

    With your characteristics and skills, you are ready to lay a strong foundation for your career and make an important contribution to our projects.
