As a Junior Flood Defense Advisor, you will work together with an ambitious and enthusiastic team to assess, design, and realize primary and regional flood defenses throughout the Netherlands. Your contribution is essential to providing our clients with safe, sustainable, and future-proof solutions. With us, technology, spatial quality, and sustainability go hand in hand. This requires both your substantive expertise and an open view of the environment in which you operate. In the first years of this role, we will support you in finding a development path that matches your interests and competencies. Some conceivable paths within our advisory group are:

• Senior geotechnical specialist: diving into all conceivable technical details with which we assess and design flood defenses. Automation also plays an important role in this.
• Design Lead or technical manager: leading teams of specialists and designers to achieve an affordable, sustainable, and feasible dike design.
• Broad advisor and/or environmental manager: seeking integration and compatibility with other area developments, integration of sustainability, and stakeholder support.
• Project Manager: if client contact, managing project teams, and commercial responsibility suit you, then we will support your development toward the role of project manager.

In this versatile role, you will work on diverse projects, ranging from innovative dike reinforcements to complex safety analyses. Your activities include, among others:

• Modeling geotechnical and geohydrological aspects.
• Setting up and supervising soil investigations.
• Reporting research results and advising our clients.
• Collaborating with other disciplines such as environmental management, conditioning, and planning.

You will work on a wide range of projects throughout the Netherlands, with clients such as water boards, Rijkswaterstaat, contractors, and property developers. For example:

• HWBP Planuitwerking Doeveren for Waterschap Aa en Maas
• HWBP Sprok Sterreschans-Heteren for Waterschap Rivierenland
• Nadere Veiligheidsanalyse Ketelmeerdijk-Vossemeerdijk for Waterschap Zuiderzeeland
• Programma Verbeteren Boezemkades at Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier
• and many more high-profile projects!

For this role, we are looking for a junior professional with the following profile:

• You have a completed HBO or WO degree in, for example, civil engineering, geotechnics, hydraulic engineering, water management, or earth sciences. Other relevant fields of study are also welcome.
• You are a starter or have up to approximately 2 years of work experience, for example, as a geotechnical specialist, advisor, or designer.
• You have knowledge of or experience with geotechnical calculation systems, such as the D-series, and possibly with new developments such as D-GeoFlow.
• Experience with GIS systems, databases, and programming in Python is a plus.
• You have a good command of the Dutch and English languages.
• You are flexible to work throughout the Netherlands and enjoy working in an (international) multidisciplinary team.
