What you'll get

The basis for your terms of employment is in accordance with the Cao Ziekenhuizen (Collective Labour Agreement for Hospitals). You will receive from us:

  • A permanent contract for 24-36 hours per week at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek. For the hours you work at Medisch Centrum Jan van Goyen, you will be seconded.

  • A gross monthly salary between € 3,903 and € 5,503 (in accordance with CAO hospitals 1/8/2026) based on a 36-hour work week, corresponding to FWG 55 and depending on your experience;

  • You will receive a temporary labor market allowance. This allowance is a gross allowance amounting to 10% of your gross monthly salary and runs until August 31, 2027, inclusive;

  • 144 vacation hours and 57 hours of Personal Life Stage Budget, based on full-time employment;

  • An annual 8.33% holiday allowance and a fixed year-end bonus of 8.33%;

  • A travel allowance of € 0.23 per km and compensation for on-call shifts, where you choose whether to have it paid out or save it for more free time.

  • Free parking in the shared parking garage of the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek and Medisch Centrum Jan van Goyen, but with our bicycle scheme and discounts on public transport, we also make it attractive for you to leave the car behind;

  • A great opportunity in a specialized hospital where you can also continue to learn and grow if you wish: the AVL Academy offers innovative and inspiring education in the field of oncological expertise, skills, and personal development;

  • Opportunities to exercise at our Fit Boutiqs;

  • An active staff association and Young AVL: associations that organize sporting, cultural, and creative activities and events;

  • An employer contribution of 50% towards your pension at Pensioenfonds Zorg & Welzijn and collective discounts with health insurers IZZ, Zorg en Zekerheid, and Zilveren Kruis.

The role

Do you want to apply your knowledge and skills broadly and keep them up to date? Are you looking for variety between complex oncological care and low- to medium-complexity procedures? And does it seem ideal to work at two locations that are literally a stone's throw away from each other? Then this unique, combined position at the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek (AVL) and Medisch Centrum Jan van Goyen is for you.

As a surgical assistant within the AVL and the Medisch Centrum Jan van Goyen, you will work in two different but beautifully complementary environments. At the AVL, you assist with oncological procedures within disciplines such as general and reconstructive surgery, head and neck, gynecology, and urology. You always think one step ahead and contribute to ensuring that every complex procedure runs optimally. At the same time, you are offered the chance to work in a smaller-scale setting, where you prepare, assist, instrument, and circulate for specialties such as plastic surgery, orthopedics, wound care, and ENT.

Where the AVL boasts a hyper-modern OR complex with three robot rooms, endo-suites, and 3D navigation—and opportunities for development into a first assistant with extensive training and laparoscopic box training—in the Medisch Centrum Jan van Goyen, you will find short lines of communication and a close-knit team in which doctors and assistants work together with respect and humor. Both locations combine professionalism with a pleasant atmosphere, collegiality, and mutual care, even when the work is heavy. Whether you are working in a technically advanced environment or in an accessible treatment center in the former Slotervaart Hospital: pace, efficiency, and personal care for every patient are always central. What you'll do

  • Variety between heavy and light care

  • Working in two excellent, modernly equipped OR complexes

  • Ideal for operating room assistants who want to remain all-round

  • Variation in patient groups and specialties

  • Professional growth in both an academic and a small-scale setting

  • Two teams that will welcome you with open arms
