The role

Do you want to work in primary care for asylum seekers, with the certainty of a good employer?

This assignment runs for a longer period, 24 to 38 hours per week, at asylum seeker centers in the Hoogeveen region. A day shift yields up to €24.61 per hour. You will become part of a multidisciplinary team and work during fixed office hours.

You will hear from us within one working day. Always, even if it is a no.

It saves us both time: without a completed diploma in healthcare or welfare, we cannot do anything for you. Our clients simply will not place you in a group then. Which diploma you need is listed under Is this for you. A foreign diploma counts as soon as Nuffic or IDW has evaluated it.

What you'll do

You work within primary care at various asylum seeker centers in your region. You have daily contact with patients of different ages, cultures, and nationalities. Due to language and cultural differences, the work requires patience, creativity, and culturally sensitive communication. Where necessary, an interpreter will be used.

You do not work at one fixed location. Due to the varying inflow and outflow of residents and the opening and closing of reception locations, it is constantly being assessed where your efforts are most needed. As a result, the work is varied and you will come into contact with diverse care needs.

You work within a multidisciplinary team and, together with other healthcare professionals, provide accessible and appropriate care to asylum seekers. The working hours are during fixed office hours from 08:30 to 17:00, making the work easy to combine with a healthy work-life balance.

As a medical assistant, you are the first point of contact for patients with diverse care needs.

  • Receiving patients, assessing the request for help, and determining urgency.
  • Independently conducting consultation hours and providing appropriate care or referral.
  • Performing medical-technical procedures, such as vaccinations, blood pressure checks, and wound care.
  • Registering patient data in the EHR and participating in multidisciplinary consultations.
  • Collaborating with GPs, nurses, POH-GGZ (mental health practice assistants), and other involved healthcare and chain partners.

You will be employed on a secondment basis by GOED. and work for the client. Your salary, your contract, and your guidance are managed through us.

What else you get

  • Your BHV (Emergency Response), administering medication, and aggression regulation are free of charge, provided by GOED.academy.
  • Varied work at different reception locations in your region.
  • If this assignment ends, we will look for the next one. You do not need to apply again.

Does this suit you?

  • A completed MBO-4 diploma in Medical Assistant or Nursing, or a diploma at MBO or HBO level in the direction of medical assistant or nurse, with an affinity for asylum seeker care.
  • Experience as a medical assistant from work or an internship.
  • An independent, proactive, and flexible working attitude.
  • Patience and good communication skills in contact with different cultures and nationalities.
  • The ability to maintain professional boundaries while acting with involvement and empathy.
  • You are culturally sensitive, patient-oriented, and know how to act calmly and adequately even in the face of language barriers or stressful situations.
