Operating Room Assistant

Within the operating room complex of Medisch Spectrum Twente, we have space for an operating room assistant.

The profession of an operating room assistant is varied, dynamic, and specialized, and you must be able to respond well to changing circumstances. Good patient care is always the priority, despite the fact that patient contact is minimal. Before, during, and after the surgery, you coordinate and direct the care process around the patient, and during the surgery, you facilitate the surgeon in the role of circulator, scrub, or assistant.

Good collaboration within the team is essential. At the beginning of the day, roles are distributed so that everyone knows what their task is for that day.

Our modern OR complex features 11 general ORs and 2 hybrid ORs. We have an enthusiastic, friendly, and professional team. Together with the surgeons and all other OR staff, we dedicate ourselves daily with enthusiasm to providing our patients with the best possible care. Naturally, we do this with a healthy dose of humor and teamwork.

Important competencies to start working as an operating room assistant are collaboration, communication, and the ability to reflect on your own actions. Due to technological developments and innovations, the work of an operating room assistant is becoming more complex and involves more responsibilities. This requires technical insight and an eager-to-learn attitude to be able to continue developing and applying professional knowledge and skills. Additionally, you hold a diploma as an operating room assistant.
