Fellow Urology

A vacancy for a fellow urologist (0.8 fte) is available at the Urology department of the NKI-AVL. Currently, we work at the AVL with 9 full-time urologists, 2 part-time urologists, and 2 urologists in guest positions in oncological urology. Additionally, there are 8 experienced nurse practitioners, 1 fellow, 2-3 AIOS-urology (residents), and physician-researchers within the urology department.

There is a wide range of both robot-assisted and open uro-oncological surgeries. Furthermore, several urologists from the region participate in operative care as part of the Prostate Cancer Network, performing prostatectomies in our hospital. The hospital functions as a referral hospital for invasive bladder, urachus, and penile carcinoma. There are regional kidney cancer and bladder cancer networks and MDTs, a national penile and testis MDT, and also many uro-oncological MDTs within the hospital and with hospitals in the region.

New patients are seen per tumor type in rapid diagnostics clinics with the nurse practitioners. Minor procedures, punctures, and endoscopies are performed at the research and treatment center (OBC). During the grand rounds on the ward, patients are discussed weekly in a multidisciplinary manner with GI surgery, gynecology, plastic surgery, and paramedical staff.

For the training of AIOS-urology, there are affiliations with the clusters Leiden, Amsterdam, and Utrecht (a 6-month advanced internship at the end of the training). The AVL Academy assists with this and offers a wide range of courses.

• You are a bright young urologist or have nearly completed your training.

• You are a team player. You have an interest in onco-urology and multidisciplinary work. You have already demonstrated this affinity during your urology training. You now wish to further deepen your knowledge in onco-urology clinically and possibly through research for one year, in order to subsequently start working as a full-fledged oncological urologist.

• A week of training in ORSI is recommended for candidates with a specific interest in robotic surgery. A completed PhD is recommended.

In addition to direct supervision from the staff, you are also expected to provide supervision to AIOS, ANIOS, physician-researchers, nurse practitioners, and paramedical staff. Additionally, an active role within the department is expected. You will participate in the on-call schedule, where you will always have an ANIOS as first responder and a staff member as second responder.

The basis for your employment conditions is in accordance with the AMS regulation.

You will receive from us:

• A 1-year contract for 36 hours per week.

• A gross monthly salary appropriate to your years of experience in accordance with the AMS regulation.

• An annual 8% holiday allowance and 30 vacation days on a full-time basis.

• A travel allowance of € 0.23 per km.
