The Antoni van Leeuwenhoek is looking for a warm, organized, and visible connector who makes our volunteers feel that they truly matter.
At our hospital, about 110 volunteers dedicate themselves to patients, visitors, and colleagues. They drive patients (in beds), receive people at the outpatient clinics, provide support during day treatment, are present in the Center for Quality of Life, and care for the flowers in the hospital. As a coordinator, you ensure that all of this runs smoothly, and that every volunteer feels seen and appreciated.
You are the face and the first point of contact for the entire volunteer team. You walk a round through the hospital daily, in the morning and in the afternoon, and you know the people personally. You work closely with department heads, healthcare professionals, HR, and the Service Center, and you report to the team leader and the manager.
Planning and coordinating: you create and manage the volunteer rosters, process them in RostarCAS, and respond timely to understaffing. Together with the departments, you look for suitable solutions.
Recruiting and welcoming: you conduct interviews, register new volunteers, and guide them during onboarding, including their employee badge and parking permit. In this way, you ensure a warm start.
Guiding: you are the personal point of contact for questions, specifics, or bottlenecks. In case of illness, absence, or personal circumstances, you maintain contact. You recognize developments within the team and respond to them adequately.
Administering: you process travel expenses, changes, and personnel data, and you handle confidential information with care.
Appreciating: you provide personal attention, such as birthday wishes and anniversaries, and you organize the annual Theme Afternoon, the Communication Sessions, and Volunteer Day.
Informing volunteers (e.g., via our newsletter).
At the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, we all commit to the same goal: the best care for every patient and every type of cancer. That is no small feat. But not impossible. Here, science and care work together on innovation. Time and again, we find new ways that help people with cancer worldwide. Here we save lives, we win time and quality.
Experience with roster planning and preferably with guiding volunteers or teams
Affinity with volunteer work and healthcare
A completed education at mbo+/hbo level
Proficient in administrative systems (knowledge of RostarCAS is a plus) and good command of Microsoft Office and Outlook
Strong communication skills, both oral and written
An organizer who maintains an overview, even when it gets busy
Empathic, involved, and connecting, with a coaching style
Flexible, solution-oriented, and stress-resistant
Independent, integrous, and careful
A true team player and innovator
