Sustainability Advisor in Utrecht

The challenges surrounding climate adaptation, circularity, energy transition, and a future-proof living environment are becoming increasingly complex. At WSP, we work daily on projects within water, (energy) infrastructure, and the built environment, in which sustainability is an integral part of design, trade-offs, and decision-making. Projects where technical content, societal ambitions, and administrative interests converge.

For these challenges, we are looking for a Sustainability Advisor who understands technology and knows how to translate it into clear, integral, and applicable advice.

As a sustainability advisor, you will work on diverse technical projects in the fields of water, infrastructure, and the built environment. You will assess sustainability aspects in various project phases and advise clients such as water boards, grid operators, and governments. This could, for example, involve dike reinforcements within the Flood Protection Program, drafting sustainability criteria for the expansion of high-voltage substations, or applying the basic principles of the Sustainable GWW Approach for a province.

You understand the technical content and the underlying analyses, but your strength lies in the translation: from technology to choices, scenarios, and integral advice. Themes such as climate adaptation, circularity, and future-proof design form an important part of your work. Based on your expertise, you will also provide sustainability and knowledge sessions for clients, for example in the form of workshops or presentations in which you guide them through developments, trade-offs, and possibilities within their projects.

• A completed HBO or WO degree in technology and/or sustainability;

• Several years of relevant work experience within technical projects in water, infrastructure, or the built environment;

• Experience in assessing sustainability aspects, both qualitatively and quantitatively;

• Experience in an advisory role towards (public) clients;

• Fluent command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written.
