The role

The semiconductor industry is in the midst of a major transition towards a more sustainable future. As an important supplier within this chain, VDL ETG has developed an active sustainability strategy, which is managed from our location in Almelo.

Within VDL ETG Almelo, we work with a sustainability team in which the themes of Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) are central. Our sustainability policy combines a practical approach that fits our family business with the high demands of international customers and legislation. Step by step, we are further integrating sustainability into our daily business operations.

To strengthen the team, we are looking for a Sustainability Engineer. In this role, you will make an important contribution to the further development, implementation, and safeguarding of our sustainability objectives. You will work closely with colleagues within various departments, other VDL ETG locations, and the central sustainability team of VDL Groep. You are an important link between policy and practice. In doing so, you will analyze data, initiate improvement projects, and ensure that sustainability objectives are translated into concrete results.

• Co-shaping the sustainability program of VDL ETG Almelo based on existing programs, customer requirements, and laws and regulations.
• Developing and implementing initiatives in the field of:

1. Environment: energy consumption, CO₂ reduction, and waste reduction.
2. Social: safety, working conditions, and employee development.
3. Governance: business ethics, business continuity, and supply chain responsibility.

• Setting up, managing, and improving data collection and reporting regarding sustainability.
• Identifying technical improvement projects for CO₂ reduction and waste reduction and guiding their execution.
• Supporting sustainability reporting, including management reviews, CSRD, and CDP reporting towards VDL Groep.
• Providing compliance reporting to customers in areas including RBA, REACH, RoHS, and Conflict Minerals.
• Collaborating with the procurement organization to involve suppliers and the supply chain in our sustainability ambitions.
• Exchanging knowledge and best practices with other VDL ETG companies and contributing to the further development of the sustainability strategy.
• Maintaining contact with the Energy & Climate Advisor of VDL Groep and other internal and external stakeholders.
