Civil Engineering Work Preparation Internship in Haarlem

Are you a Civil Engineering student or similar looking for an internship in work preparation? At Van Hattum en Blankevoort, we are looking for an intern for February 2027 for the OV-knooppunt Haarlem Spaarnepoort project.

During your internship, do you want to do more than just observe, but truly contribute to a large and challenging civil engineering project? On the OV-knoop Haarlem project, you will get the chance to gain hands-on experience and discover everything involved in the realization of complex concrete works.

During your internship, you will participate fully in the project team and work from work preparation on the preparation of the concrete works. In doing so, you will deal with technology, planning, phasing, and procurement. This way, you will learn not only how a design is ultimately realized outdoors, but also how different disciplines come together within a large infrastructure project.

We challenge you to take initiative and take responsibility. You will be given your own problems to solve and the space to come up with ideas and solutions. Of course, you will not be alone: experienced colleagues will guide you and share their professional knowledge and the daily practice of the project.

Additionally, you will of course receive sufficient space for your own internship assignments and studies.

In short: an internship in which you see a lot, learn a lot, and actually contribute to the project. A great opportunity to gain (practical) experience, build a professional network, and lay a solid foundation for your career in civil engineering.

Together with KWS Infra, we are renewing the OV Knooppunt in Haarlem. We are doing this on behalf of the Municipality of Haarlem, in collaboration with the Province of Noord-Holland, Vervoerregio Amsterdam, Gemeenschappelijke Regeling Zuid-Kennemerland, and the National Government.

At this busy and strategic location, we are helping to design and build the underground and above-ground infrastructure. This public transport hub will become an important link in the accessibility of Haarlem and the region. It replaces the existing bus stops and consists of:

• A two-level underground bicycle parking facility for approximately 2275 bicycles

• 8 bus stop spaces for public transport

• A complete redesign of the public space, including green spaces

• A pedestrian passage that better connects the Slachthuisbuurt, Schalkwijk, and the future Spaarnepark

This will create a future-proof mobility hub that is ready for the growth of the city and the region.
