Civil Engineering Internship

Within Ballast Nedam Infra, we offer civil engineering internships at various project locations throughout the Netherlands. Whether you are interested in work preparation, execution, process optimization, or a graduation research project, we will look together at which assignment, department, and project best align with your studies and ambitions.

As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will get the chance to work on complex and socially relevant infra projects. Think of bridges, tunnels, roads, quays, and integral infrastructure projects. Depending on your interests, you can, for example, work within the civil work preparation of a bridge project, shadow the execution of a road construction work, contribute to process improvements within our project teams, or carry out a challenging graduation assignment.

You will work together with professionals from various disciplines and gain a unique insight into the world of large infrastructure projects. In addition, you will receive a lot of freedom to take initiative, take responsibility, and shape your own development.

Projects you may contribute to include, among others, large-scale tunnel renovations, replacement and renovation projects of bridges and viaducts, complex road construction tasks, and other prestigious infra projects that keep the Netherlands accessible and safe.

• Assisting in the preparation of civil engineering projects;

• Supporting supervisors and project teams on the construction site;

• Drafting and monitoring schedules and work methodologies;

• Performing analyses and improvement proposals within project processes;

• Coordinating with colleagues, suppliers, and subcontractors;

• Processing and checking technical project information;

• Developing an internship or graduation assignment with direct added value for the project.

• You are following an MBO, HBO, or WO education in the direction of civil engineering and are looking for a working internship or graduation assignment;

• You manage the Dutch language at a good level, both spoken and written;

• You take initiative, are curious, and dare to ask questions;

• You have an interest in infrastructure projects and the built environment;

• You work in a structured manner and have an eye for quality;

• You enjoy collaborating with different disciplines;

• You want to develop yourself within a professional project organization.

• You receive an internship allowance of €507,- (MBO) or €600,- (HBO) gross per 4 weeks. Converted, that is €550,- (MBO) and €650,- (HBO) gross per month for a full-time internship;

• An internship position where you are truly part of the team. No fetching coffee, but contributing to projects that have a visible impact together with your enthusiastic team;

• Good guidance. Your permanent internship supervisor will teach you the ins and outs of the profession;
