The majority of the procurement volume is related to production. You are responsible for benchmarking, market analysis, and our network of suppliers. We believe it is important that Procurement is involved at as early a stage as possible, so you will have a lot of contact with product development and engineering.
In the phase our organization is currently in, many interesting NPR procurement projects are also coming our way. The procurement team consists of a Strategic Buyer, another Tactical Buyer, and a Procurement Administration Assistant. Together, you will tackle all procurement challenges. Operational procurement lies with the supply chain management department.
What you'll do
Your primary duties:
- Developing and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. This includes establishing contacts, setting up procurement contracts, and conducting periodic reviews.
- Negotiating and establishing prices, contract terms, delivery agreements, and annual objectives.
- Initiating, coordinating, and managing cost reduction activities.
- Monitoring and analyzing supplier KPIs and taking measures if necessary.
- Independently setting up and executing tender processes (including supplier selection and nomination), managing the contract database, and monitoring the tender calendar.
- Managing, assessing, and negotiating technical product changes (engineering changes), including impact analysis, documentation, and commercial alignment with suppliers.
Your strength
- You have a successfully completed HBO (higher professional education) degree in a commercial or technical field.
- You have several years of work experience within a high-end, technical production environment.
- You have knowledge of supply chain management and demonstrable experience in procuring complex, technical parts, products, and semi-finished goods.
- Possessing Nevi 1 and Nevi 2 certificates is a plus.
- You have strong negotiation skills; you know how to achieve goals with precision and manage supplier relationships optimally.
- You see the big picture and are always looking for further improvements.
- You have excellent numerical and analytical insight.
The strength of VDL
In addition to a work atmosphere that is informal, open, and direct, we offer you highly varied work, a fine salary, and similar secondary employment conditions. Furthermore, you will receive the opportunity for internal and external training in your field and there are opportunities for career growth, both within VDL Defentec and the VDL Group.
