The role
Working on complex maritime defence projects requires more than just good procurement skills. It requires someone who brings structure, thinks ahead, and takes action, but simultaneously understands that processes, procedures, and compliance within Defence are essential.
As a Senior Tactical Purchaser Defence, you purchase large and technically complex equipment packages for our defence projects. You move daily between suppliers, engineering, project teams, and the requirements from our customers. In doing so, you will deal with extensive procedures and sometimes bureaucratic processes.
That is exactly where your strength lies. You know when to push forward and when diligence is more important. You can start moving with 90% of the information, without losing sight of the necessary processes. You are entrepreneurial and result-oriented, but not a cowboy.
Royal IHC is continuing to build its Defence organization and works on attractive, complex projects in a growing market. That means not everything comes easily. We are therefore looking for someone with experience, perseverance, and the drive to not only purchase equipment, but also to help build the way we organize that within Defence.
What you'll do
As Senior Tactical Purchaser Defence, you are responsible for, among other things:
- Purchasing large and complex equipment packages for maritime defence projects.
- Developing and executing procurement strategies for your work packages, in line with planning, budget, and technical scope.
- Selecting, qualifying, and contracting suppliers.
- Requesting and evaluating quotes and negotiating price, terms, quality, and delivery times.
- Drafting and concluding contracts and framework agreements with suppliers.
- Monitoring supplier performance regarding quality, planning, costs, and compliance.
- Collaborating with engineering, project management, contract management, and other internal stakeholders.
- Translating complex customer requirements and procedures into a workable approach within Royal IHC.
- Ensuring that procurement activities demonstrably comply with applicable processes, procedures, and contractual requirements.
- Identifying risks in the supply chain and actively taking measures.
- Critically assessing specifications and seeking commercial or technical alternatives when that adds value.
- Bringing structure to complex procurement trajectories and ensuring that agreements, actions, and decisions are well documented.
- Contributing to the further professionalization of Procurement within the growing Defence organization.
Who are we looking for?
For this position, we are not looking for a purchaser who only executes an existing process. We are looking for a highly skilled professional who can independently lead complex procurement trajectories and who stands firm enough to achieve results within a demanding project environment.
Why Royal IHC Defence?
You will join an environment that is fully in development. We are continuing to build our Defence organization and work on technically challenging projects in which procurement plays an important role.
That makes this position interesting for someone who does not only want to purchase, but also wants to have influence on how we further professionalize procurement within Defence. You will face complex packages, challenging stakeholders, and strict processes, but at the same time, you will have the space to take initiative and move things forward.
Due to the defence context, a security screening (VGB) and the submission of a certificate of good conduct (VOG) are part of the procedure.
