Internship Assignment – HBO - Drafting a demand and S&OP process manual

Location: Hengelo, Netherlands

In the Netherlands, where more than 2500 employees are active, we have locations in seven cities: Huizen, Amersfoort, Rotterdam, Delft, Breda, Eindhoven and Hengelo (headquarters). Together with an extensive ecosystem of knowledge partners, customers and suppliers, we work on radars for sea vessels, cybersecurity solutions, transport systems, communication equipment for land forces, cryogenic cooling solutions and research & development for radar technology (in collaboration with TU Delft).

The department and the team;
The Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) department is an important player at Thales when it comes to managing our demand and supply in the medium and long term. In the fast-growing defense market, this process is crucial for Thales. This department, active since 2020 and still developing, plays an important role within our organization.

The S&OP department, consisting of 9 employees, ensures the planning and steering of the demand and supply process. Regularly, the department delivers a validated demand and supply plan, which is followed up by the internal organization. Additionally, the department assists in making decisions regarding future differences between demand and supply.

The S&OP department has existed for four years now and is making the transition from project-based to process-oriented working. Due to the complex and specific nature of the S&OP process, it is essential to clearly and concretely record all procedures, rules, criteria and working methods in a manual.

We are looking for someone who can merge this information into an organized overview. This manual must become a useful reference work for everyone involved in the S&OP process, with explanations and clarifications for all relevant components.

The process encompasses a wide range of areas of focus and many internal departments are involved. During the drafting of the manual, you will regularly be in contact with, among others, Sales, Finance, the Supply Chain and, of course, the S&OP team.
