The role

Are you in your fourth year of optometry studies and looking for a side job where you can calmly gain practical experience alongside your studies? Do you want to apply your knowledge step by step in a professional environment, with good guidance? Then our Bergman Clinics location in Ede could be a good fit for you.

What you'll do

What are you going to do?
You will start with tasks that align with your knowledge and will receive good guidance in this. As you progress in your studies and gain more experience, you can take on tasks increasingly independently.
Your duties may consist of:

  • Independently performing functional tests: Think of OCT, biometry, corneal topography, and fundus photography.

  • Visual field testing: You will independently perform visual field testing during consultation hours. You will perform the anamnesis, intraocular pressure measurement, and prepare the client for the ophthalmologist's results.

  • Postoperative cataract clinic: You will independently conduct a postoperative cataract clinic and handle administrative tasks, such as writing letters to the GP.

  • Clinic support: Based on your work experience, you can be trained in supporting the physician's clinic.

  • Varied work schedule: You will receive a different work schedule per half-day, so no day is the same. In the morning, for example, you might be at the postoperative cataract clinic and in the afternoon performing visual field tests. This rotation ensures a lot of variety in your work.

The activities will be tailored to what you can already do and where you want to grow, so that you receive more responsibility step by step.

How you can make an impact as an Optometry Student

This vacancy is not for an internship, but a paid side job based on a 0-hour contract (fixed hours are negotiable if desired). You can work flexibly and coordinate your working hours with your study schedule. You will get the chance to gain practical experience and become familiar with the field of optometry, at a pace that suits your education and experience. We are looking for a student who is available 27 to 40 hours per week between 07:45 and 17:15.

What do you get in return?

We believe it is important that you, as a student, can lay a good foundation for your future career. Therefore, we provide a working environment in which you can learn and gain experience.
